2022 General Draft Thoughts

We don't really talk about McDuffie at all. Do we think he could actually be in play? Especially in a trade down scenario?

Kinda wild

just came here to post it - I 100% get it though... i can see teams looking at him and thinking he doesn't fit their system at all and maybe doesnt jump out to some scouts tbh...

he's not quick, he's not fast, he's not bendy, he's not a great run defender, he's got short arms and it shows up...
like some teams probably look at him and think he's got violent power in his hands but what else... may well be that these teams are 3-4 teams that are looking at him as maybe a 3-4 DE and that's why they cant see it

and then others are going to look at some of his disruptive power in his hands and his flashes of destruction on the edge and think he's a potentially dominant player

yes i think he's on the board and in play (maybe even at 14)
lack of length is a downside but the elite play-speed (pro-day testing was much better than combine and apparently the GPS data has him as an elite level of athlete... which is what i saw on tape tbh) and awesome technique and intelligence may well make up for that deficit in the ravens's eyes

id be surprised if he's BPA at 14, but i would not be surprised if he was BPA after even a small trade down - that's if another team hasnt already taken him lol

teams that run zone may well have already fallen in love with mcduffie - would honestly not be shocked if some teams had mcduffie as CB1

for me he's CB4 but that's more about how much i love stingley and booth than a dislike of mcduffie

EDIT:
just saw cole had very similar thoughts about mcduffie...

Really feels like there are going to be a bunch of WRs overdrafted this year out of pure need. Feels weird to see guys like Christian Watson firmly in the 1st. Maybe it's just me but I didn't see him at that level. But because the Chiefs and Packers in particular are so thin now, it feels like guys that shouldn't be drafted there might get drafted there.

That… and how the top tier WRs are cracking 25mil+ this off-season. GMs are going to see that and will rather reach on a WR and hope they get a good one for 4-5 cheap years.

i think also because while it's still a pretty good WR class, it's nowhere near as good as the previous 3 years which were insane in terms of depth (and in the last 2 years case, also tons of 1st round talents too)

i've got a big grade on drake london and a couple of solid mid-to-high 1st round grades on olave and wilson and jameson williams but that's it for me...

obviously i understand that there are apparently some teams that are super high on treylon burks and i definitely think he's interesting but idk that i see the dynamic 1st round grade he's garnering

still lots of guys - but definitely feels like there's a big drop-off once you get out of day 2 and probably nowhere near as many guys in day 1 and day 2 as normal

and all that to say... that's probably why we'll see a load of those fringe guys get pushed up into R1 because this is the first class in a while where maybe you can't wait to get one later especially if you're team that picks late in the 2nd round... probably can't pass on a WR with your 1st pick because the board might be completely bare when you're next on the clock

That's what I was thinking having a WR1 on a cheap rookie contract is almost becoming as beneficial as having your QB on one

He's even been a polarizing prospect on this board. In general people are all over the place with him
I’m real high on karlaftis, he’s on my pound the table post, and im standing by that one. He needs development but I absolutely think he will develop and become a monster.

What? Not quick? What the fuck are you watching? He absolutely FLIES off the ball and he Carries the burst throughout the rush. You make him sound like jaylon Ferguson, he is stupidly explosive and twitchy.

What about Booth?
I think he’s firmly in a B tier below the guys we all want, but he’s probably among the tops of that tier. I’m high on booth I just think 14 feels slightly rich, he’s like a 16 or later guy in my eyes which may sound like splitting hairs but depending on how many qbs and wrs go the difference between 14 and 16 could be massive
