2022 General Draft Thoughts

RaineV1

Ravens Ring of Honor
We don't really talk about McDuffie at all. Do we think he could actually be in play? Especially in a trade down scenario?
For me Sauce, Stingley, and Booth would be the only corners I want in the first round. I like McDuffie, but I don't have him quite on the same level, and there's be guys in other positions I'd take over him.

I think our best course would be to trade back from both of our top 2 picks, and use the ammunition picked up to make 5 picks on day 2. go from 7 picks in the first 4 rounds to 6, but have 3 of those 6 being much higher value
currently we have 9 picks in the first 4 rounds

Yeah sure. I didn't want to put much weight on the positive numbers of Ebiketie, Hutch and Mafe because I just don't know how high their double team rates are.

I was really disappointed how low Walker's rate is - I expected it to be better albeit not as high as others. Generally speaking Walker should have had it easier because of the unbelievable amount of talent Georgia had on defense.
Walker played inside against guards a lot as well.

I'd flip a coin
I really love both Stingley and Cross and Cross has the ability to play guard if Stanley is heathy enough to go. Cross isn't that great of a run blocker but a damn good pass blocker and his punch is insane. Really love how he uses his hands.

That being said, I'm taking Stingley, who could be a top 3 cb when all is said and done.

Top 3 in this draft? Naw, if we get him we he better turn into a top 3 cb in nfl

What scares me is Mcduffies lack of experience in man coverage. As a Washington husky myself, I’m bias to pair him with Marcus to have 2 reps in the ravens secondary. But that guy can play. Like said, we could probably snag him at 18-22 ish so it’s only right if our board is empty

i think it's overblown - like i get that there arent a bajillion man reps but there's enough that you dont need to project what he looks like in man coverage - press is where you do have to project a little bit but im not so worried about that

i think the only question with mcduffie and the ravens, in reality, is how much they ding him for his size and shorter arms and how much they're going to value press in his evaluation...
because he's clearly the most consistently intelligent and best processing CB in the class, with great route recognition and route anticipation and has the instincts and athletic ability to close in a flash and has tons of reps of outstanding awareness and deception (was often used to disguise coverages)

he's the kind of prospect who just looks like a pro already - never rushed, technically and fundamentally sound, elite athleticism, super smart

he's exactly the kind of dude who might be an all-pro with a team like the bills

what dont you like about him?
he may not be in the top 14 on my board when it's all said and done but he's not gonna be far away if he doesnt make the top 14 (he's in that 2nd tier of guys behind the top guys for me)
I do like mcduffie, but you said it, he’s just a tier behind the guys I want.

right but that tier for me are the blue-chip top 10 guys...
we've been talking for months now about the fact that all 10 of those guys seem somewhat likely to all be gone

so when i say 2nd tier - i mean the same tier that i have jordan davis, andrew booth, devin lloyd, chris olave in

the kind of guys who we need to be comfortable taking at 14 in case there's no trade down option...

I think there's a real chance depending on how high Sauce is taken that he, Stingley and McDuffie could all go in the top 12

i think so - especially if the texans really are thinking about corner at 3
we know the giants love sauce... idk how much they love stingley but feels like the floor on sauce is 7, vikings are getting mocked CBs at 12 left, right and centre

seahawks, jets are both potentially CB threats too

If the board falls like that who knows how safe Booth even is in a trade back
