‘Wink’ is the New Defensive Coordinator

I'm interested and hearing what Wink has to say tomorrow and Ravens wide receiver coach Bobby Engram is currently the offensive coordinator for The East team for The East West shrine game that's suppose to be on Saturday. That's for those that may have been expecting a different receiver coach next season which doesn't seem likely.

Engram is pretty well liked and has a good reputation as a WR developer. I assume that’s why we still haven’t had our State of the Ravens...I think we’re debating on who is gone from our personnel department. I think they have seriously failed us. Anyway, it’ll be interesting to hear what Wink says. I assume there’s a press conference for him?

I hope he gets an ILB who is great in coverage. I’d love Smith

Smith honestly isnt that great in coverage in my eyes.

Yes, it's suppose to be a press conference for Wink at 1:30 pm tomorrow . I think you may be right about the personnel department matter. I don't know what type of changes The Ravens could make though but I would like to see a more experienced position coach work with the linebackers. I wouldn't at all rule out seeing Steve Spagnuolo back on The Ravens coaching staff at some capacity .

Could be time to move Judon to Suggs side and start Bowser at sam. How effective would Suggs be as 5Tech/occasional weak side backer?
.....Using Tim Williams situationally

i missed wink's introductory presser but these are the excerpts that jeff zrebiec pulled out on twitter:

  • New Ravens DC Don "Wink" Martindale: "I think any coach worth his salt thinks he's the right guy for the job. I've been preparing for this job all my life and I understand what comes with this job with this great organization."

  • Martindale on how he differs from Dean Pees: "There's going to be some things that are the same. And then there are going to be sometimes where I'm going to pressure more. I just think I have a more aggressive personality in calling the game. Sometimes, too aggressive."

  • Martindale on his Broncos d in 2010 finishing last: “You win or you learn. I learned a lot that year. It always has been and it always will be about the players. I was proud, even though the stats were what they were."
that 2nd comment seems to be the most impactful statement of the three... any thoughts?

UNLEASH THE TIMMY!

After hearing him talk about the defense, I actually have a good feeling about Wink. There were so many times when it felt like Pees was trying not to lose rather than go for the win. I think Wink might bring back that cocky, "They better not even get a first down," type of mentality to our defense.

i can only hope that that's why all the linebackers were so keen for wink to get the job

tbh i am 10x more excited about our defense for next season than i was for last season! i want to see this " aggressive" style! Martindale pumped, so this should interesting

Where are all the dweebs bitching about Wink now that he said he's going to be more aggressive? Knee sprained from jerking it too hard?
Don't get me wrong. I'm still skeptical but I'm gonna give him a chance. I've been saying that all along. I have similar fears to you if he is at all like Rex Ryan.

That said, my stance of I would have rather done an outside hire remains firm.
