The Beatdown, The Tackling and Yet Another Injury

Study this play here Lamar. If you are going to stand there and let them sack you, here's how to do it and get us an extra 15 yards and extend the drive.

It's more on the running for me. Needs to know when to go down instead of fighting when there's nothing else there. Just see him diving head first sometimes where there are 3 guys there and they're taking their opportunities.

Can't take that sack that took us out of fg range. Know it's not the best pocket but sometimes just has to settle in there and take whats there or get rid of it.

no one's gonna have perspective this immediately after a loss lol

albeit when it's this emphatic at least you have time to process before the game's over and get a head-start

i just hate when the ravens lose early like this because it makes it hard to watch the rest of the NFL going on in the late window lol

5-2 is great - just hard not to draw major season-ending conclusions from the consistent achilles heel presented by the lack of pass protection and the inability to tackle
I mean, it's a fair point and I did turn the game off and go do something else for a bit before posting here, but there's always this "season over" hyperbole when we lose and it's always wrong. I think we've gone into the bye thinking we have fundamental unfixable flaws for the last 3 years now and come out with major improvements because we have good coaches. In the big picture, we don't have to be perfect now. The 2019 Ravens were perfect now and didn't win a playoff game. Every loss gives the coaches a chance to look at where we're vulnerable and we only need enough wins to make it to the big dance - which we're well on track for.

That said, I'm definitely anxious waiting for the news on Mekari because more season-ending injuries really could be the death sentence.

Remember checkdowns? We took some bad sacks. And the tackling midway thru the 3rd and on.......................... I'm not blaming coaches for this game.

Yep the sun will rise tommorrow and we got to chalk this up as a bad day. Defintely worried about Mekari Personally I would've traded Phillips for a bag of practice balls.

The problem is all these guys out of position and we're on backs ups back ups.

Also, didn't realize he gave up toooffiddy... DAMN

It was just a really bad day to be a Raven.

Give credit to the Bengals, they executed today.

Today sucked, but it's not the end of the world. Every team gets smacked in the mouth at least once in a season.

They'll regroup during the bye and come out and smack the other purple team at the bank

This right here!! No excuses we sucked today.. just gotta regroup and play better.. everyone does

I can accept losing, I can even accept the occasional blowout loss. I could live with receivers beating coverage and I could live with being constantly gashed for 5-10 yard runs in a loss. I can't under any circumstance accept 100 missed tackles and a yards per play of 30+ or whatever it must have been during 1½ quarter in the second half. I know I've never seen such an embarrasing defense by the Ravens. I still feel sick.
The OL was shite, but I don't think we should be expecting much more from the crew we have out there, especially with Mekari going down. I can't really blame them, that part is on the front office for refusing to draft O-line in the first two rounds for so long at a time when there's such an obvious scarcity of quality lineman all around the league.

Whatever positives I can think of
- the defense actually looked fine for 20 minutes at the start of the game
- Brown's catch
- Andrews first half, Bateman's 80 yards on 3 catches
- Oliver making a catch without juggling it (ok, that might be sarcasm)
- The DL wasn't terrible, and B Williams looked more active than he has this year
- The Bengals running back who's name is pronounced "P-Rhine". Sounds like a really bad rapper nickname

And finally, how on earth does one reconcile this defensive performance with the one we saw a week ago? I supposed last week was a fluke when looking on the entire season, but I think we were all hoping for a bit more of that.

He is good for what he does. Not top 5 as far cvg skills but def a good cb. Not really consistent enough and doesnt have any ball skills.
that tackle he made on a run was pretty incredible, not many cbs in the league making that play much less getting up in there like he did

I think the entire team needs to stop going for the punches and just tackle. even Marlon. no more green light. its causing way too many problems and hasn't forced any fumbles all year. we are lacking defensive play makers and yes that sucks but giving up small gains will break our backs way less. only punching for the ball on group tackles.

I wish they would let purple flock members in for a debrief during the bye... teach Lamar not to get sacked in field goal range, tell Harbaugh to stop challenging clear losses. Tell the defense to stop trying to force fumbles and just wrap up. wed be beautiful

Unless the play happens right in front of the bench 99% of the challenge decision is based on info coming from upstairs.
