The 2022 Offseason Thread

Can't remember a time when The Ravens cut a third rounder that's in his second season in The NFL.
I hear ya, but the Ravens aren't keeping 10 OL. Someone has to be the odd man out. It's only Powers, Phillips, and Cleveland in contention for missing out. Right now Powers is running with the ones and getting emergency center training. So unless they can trade him, I think he makes the team. That leaves both big countries. One has won a starting job two years in a row only to be injured out of existence. The other lost his competition and showed up not in shape this offseason. So that's my rationale for it being Cleveland over Phillips AS OF THIS SECOND.

I think the two big things here are can they trade Powers and how do the two big countries do against real teams in the preseason? I think that decides everything

I'll get into the "cut-off-day" 53-man roster guessing game. Not the opening game 53.
First of all, I think we have at least 3 guys to make "wink-wink deals" (release and resign) to get more people onto the roster: Jefferson, Bynes, Urban. Might only have to use 0 or 1 as the roster looks right now.

Specialists (3): JT and the wolf cubs

Offense (24):
QB (2): Guess which ones
Backfield (4): Dobbins, Ricard, Edwards, Badie. I don't think they keep Gus on PUP since it is minimum 6 weeks and we want him sooner than that. Might be short-term IR, but only after the cut-off. [Hill,Davies,Clement] seems like fillers with very little difference. If one or two gets poached, I have no problem promoting the 3rd on the day after cutdown, no matter who that is
TE (4): Andrews, Boyle, Likely, Kolar. Since Kolar can't go on PUP (didn't start camp on it, right?), he'll make the roster. I don't care the least about Oliver. I don't think he gets poached, but if not he's a PS candicdate
WR (4): Bateman, Proche, Duvernay, Wallace. There will be more than 4 on opening day, but I see no reason to use a spot on any of the ones we have. See no risk of any of them getting poached, so if we can't find a veteran or someone off waivers, then promote them after putting Gus (or whoever else we need) on IR. I expect minimal separation between the rest of the WRs currently in camp so *if* someone gets poached, "whatevva"
OL (10): 9 should do it, but even with this, I only have 24 offensive players. So let's bring all of them. Stanley, Moses, James, Faalele, Zeitler, Mekari, Powers, Big Country*2, Lindenbaum. Can always trade one if we have any takers. And try to trade Colon ASAP.

Defense (26):
DL (6): Campbell, Jones, Madubuike, Pierce, Urban, Washington
ILB (4): Bynes, Queen, Welsh, McClain. I'd prefer McClain on the PS as a developmental dime back with a possible spot next year, but I had room for him, so why not?
OLB (5): Houston, Hayes, Oweh, Bowser (?), Harrison. I suspect some vet addition, but in this scenario, I'm moving Harrison to a 2-down edge setter. If we add someone, then Harrison goes inside instead of McClain.
CD (6): Humphrey, Peters, Fuller, Armour-Davies, Williams, Stephens
S (5): Clark, Williams, Hamilton, Stone, Jeffferson

Unless I have forgotten someone, it seems like we have more room than we need, i.e. weaker depth than usual as we *could* use wink-wink deals to to get Gus and Kolar onto IR and I have a spot for McClain who probably shouldn't make it. And if I did forget someone, then I reserve the right to retroactively add them and wink-wink Jefferson and Urban ^_^

...this would be more of "what I would do" than "what I think the Ravens will do"

Where do you see Daelin Hayes and Adarius Wahington landing?

I remember people hyping clevland up only for him to be super trash?
Ok this is funny. As I remember almost everyone hated the Cleveland pick. Then they saw the pictures of him being huge and kind of shredded. Then they got into him. Then he didn't win the starting job, but came in late season as very average. Super trash doesn't feel right, but actually more of what everyone's original thoughts of him were before the pictures.

Proche looks so natural running routes and catching the football. Kind of reminds me of Odell

What's funny is every single highlight video of our receivers infuriates me. Yet again, the corners giving up plays are Seymour, Robert Jackson, and Denzel Williams. Who the hell is Denzel Williams? Any time we've seen a video with Marlon in there, its actually Marlon breaking up the pass. It's truly getting concerning lol. With the agenda that the Ravens media are trying to push that the Ravens receivers aren't bad, constantly putting up videos of their plays, there are exactly zero plays showing anything being given up on Marlon, Fuller, JAD, or Pepe. Only the extreme backend scrubs.

The one maybe singular example of something good is Bateman winning vs Marlon, but that was in one on ones which isn't even remotely fair.

Proche always looked he had potential imo but i have no faith in our current group as a whole to get us to the promise land

I guess I would say that, if they do keep 9, they could still keep all three:

Stanley
Linderbaum
Moses
Zeitler
Mekari
Powers
Phillips
Cleveland
Fallele

Those would be the nine. In that scenario, James doesn't make the team or is traded, and neither does somebody like TCC. Assuming he's back by then, you'd have Stanley and Moses as the starting Tackles, with Mekari as the swing and then Fallele and Phillips available at T also.
Mekari would be the backup Center also, and then you'd have basically at least four guys who could play Guard.

As it typically does, injuries/health will usually flush this out. Timeline for Stanley is everything. If he's not able to make it off PUP and play week 1, then I think James making the team becomes a lot more real (and maybe it is now anyway), in which case one of these guys gets bumped off the roster when Stanley returns.

As far as "higher" draft picks getting cut after year 1, only guy I see in the Harbaugh era at least was Bronson Kaufusi in 2016. He was cut before the 2017 season started as a third round pick.
4th round picks not making it to year 2 has been a bit more prevalent. Siragusa, Jaleel Scott, John Simon, Christina Thompson all didn't make it to year 2.

So it'd be rare for him to be cut, but not completely unheard of. Honestly wouldn't surprise me at all. If he's not at least the 3rd Guard, he's got a problem.

Very fair analysis. It does seem like a certainty Cleveland is gone, but it is not at all outside the realm of possibility
