houston will be more complicated in the sense that he's only been around a year - will be hard to know how happy he'd be to play at the discounted rate we got him at last year again given the cap increases - an offer that EDC himself didnt want to make because he thought it would be insulting

I don't see a reason any of those players mentioned deserve to play at their current rate or don't warrant a significant decrease from what they were previously making. As far as BWill goes, he was for a long time a need, the Ravens didn't have another 2 gap NT with his on the roster as to 2014 with Ngata which is why it made it easier to let Ngata go, they just seemingly relied on Williams alone while no one else could take on two blockers. I think for the duration of his contract he was both overpaid and very valuable to the defense for a long time. We did have Michael Pierce but he tanked his final contract year. I think he's very retainable but if someone offers him significantly more money then he will leave. Regardless of who they manage to keep it's obvious the DL badly needs a blend of youth and talent, it's hard to imagine how the DL looks. As far as Ellis is concerned I'm just not a fan, I've seen some good, and plenty of bad during his time here and he's nothing for than depth to me, if they let BWill and lose out on Campbell they will have to invest an early draft pick(Could be Jordan Davis or someone like him). They need a quality 3 tech guy as well because outside of Campbell they don't have anyone who forces the QB to climb the pocket or disrupt protection. I would make it a priority to bring back Campbell if he's interested in giving it another go.

I really feel like this defense just needs to field a respectable four/five-man rush. It's always coming back to haunt us. To be honest with you I wouldn't mind another edge player. If there is someone worth picking there I would just go with it.

drafting a corner isn’t out of the question at all, it could totally happen for no reason other than we like corners, but the mocks are always justifying it with injuries from this season, as if they’re already injured next season. Shit irks me.

Media doesn't pay attention to how involved he was during the Rams game and calling the plays in a preseason game from the sidelines. He is more likely to be extended than traded or cut.

2020, we rushed for 191 yds per game while second place rushed for 168 yds. This season doesn't really count as far as I'm concerned since we're dealing with has-beens. Let's call a spade a spade. Freeman and Murray did some good things but they're past their prime. I don't think the running game is the issue with a healthy Gus and Dobbins (mind you, Boyle missed some games too and he's a big piece of our running game).

Going into the 2022 season, I expect our running game to "regress." I put it in quotations because I still think Dobbins and Gus will continue where they left off, but I don't think we'll have as many rushing yards because our passing game should improve so long as our tackle positions get addressed.

I agree on the 2022 "regression" and want to add that Dobbins was also supposed to be part of our passing game. Take some of the passing plays we ran with Freeman and replace them with Dobbins. I believe we would have more of them and he'd be more effective.

Yeah, should be slight regression in YPG from 2020 because we have a decent set of receivers now to make it a more balanced offense.

I'm looking forward to the run efficiency shooting up and the consistency, it's so rare for Gus to not gain something on any given play, man's a beast.

yeah, losing Gus on those 3rd and 4th and shorts, where he was basically guaranteed to pick up a 1st down was very underrated.

also took away my favourite 2pt/goal-line short yardage play which was the 2 back set with gus and JK both on the field with gus lead blocking for JK on the sweep

Peters is also one of the smartest players in the league. The way he's able to read plays and be in the perfect position to get picks makes him the best ballhawk since Ed Reed. I think it would be a massive mistake if we got rid of him and honestly hope he's a Raven for the rest of his career.

Yeah I would throw Humphrey’s name in there with Peters as my two favorites after Lamar and Andrews. Both those guys are critical to how Wink attacks the QB.

If we could return in 22 with the same HEALTHY roster I would be elated. Maybe some help with the edge pass rush and more depth on the O line.

but we've never had an offence this talented before

we have an MVP QB, an all-pro TE, dangerous weapons and depth at both WR and RB and we've got an all-pro LT (if he comes back healthy) - OL really is the only place where this team is somewhat vulnerable on offence (without injuries) - the escalator impact of an effective offensive line is massive

and we've had good OLs since 2013... 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 we had really pretty good OLs and 3 of those teams made the playoffs and one missed out in heart-breaking fashion because of tyler boyd

Yeah, OL is holding the offense back--not WR now. Lots of ways you can improve the team, one is to just go all-in on fixing the OL. It would be an investment and could play huge dividends for us but would sacrifice the defense. OL is so tough too because it's hard to know the question marks:

LT: will Stanley return? Do we need to find a replacement?
LG: is Ben Cleveland the guy to take it? Do we need a true LG here?
C: will Bozeman return? Do we have anyone who can play here on this team besides Mekari who wasn't great last time?
RG: can Zeitler play well again? He's getting old.
RT: is James or Mekari good enough to play here? Do we need to invest here?

Lots of question marks here on the OL. Too bad defense is also a dumpster fire in its own ways. Crazy how it changed so much from year to year since in 2020 it was a very good defense.
