Lamar gets so much love (as well he should) for his breathtaking breakaway runs. But an often overlooked edge he gives is that he makes us almost impossible to stop in short yardage situations. It enables Harbaugh to run his analytics in a way that other HCs cannot. That enables these kind of soul crushing double-digit play drives.
I mean, we had a 12 play 39 yard game winning scoring drive that took 6:28 minutes. I mean, look at that. Those number don't make sense. How is that even possible? Only by being drop dead killer in 3rd or 4th and short. We sprinkled in a couple penalties which ultimately served to allow us to drain the clock to zero before the kick.
But of course, we have the luxury of only needing 39 yards on that drive because we have the greatest kicker in the history of the game.
