Lamar Jackson

Lamar gets so much love (as well he should) for his breathtaking breakaway runs. But an often overlooked edge he gives is that he makes us almost impossible to stop in short yardage situations. It enables Harbaugh to run his analytics in a way that other HCs cannot. That enables these kind of soul crushing double-digit play drives.

I mean, we had a 12 play 39 yard game winning scoring drive that took 6:28 minutes. I mean, look at that. Those number don't make sense. How is that even possible? Only by being drop dead killer in 3rd or 4th and short. We sprinkled in a couple penalties which ultimately served to allow us to drain the clock to zero before the kick.

But of course, we have the luxury of only needing 39 yards on that drive because we have the greatest kicker in the history of the game.

There have been couple negative plays at the end and no TOs left for Niners.
But expert-mode by Lamar, nevertheless. He has a top football brain to go with a rare athletic ability. One of a kind.

In order for me to consider him the NFL's Michael Jordan, he's gonna have to win a MINIMUM 6 rings in which he needs to be the SB MVP in each season. We'll see.
Well, starting out Michael Jordan didn't have 6 rings or 6 MVPs... in fact he didn't fare as well in his first few years because he was pummeled by the Detroit bad boys led by Isaiah Thomas, but he was still Michael Jordan right? Give Lamar time and he'll get to the older Michael Jordan with the 6 rings.

i was expecting some disrespect this week given how tight the win was and how few yards lamar passed for but so far everyone seems to be giving props

i was almost hoping for disrespect tbh so that we'd have something to rail against again

but all that really matters is that because of the tight game and the mistakes we made in it, harbs gets a load of coaching material that we wouldnt have with another blowout - makes it easier to get guys focussed and striving for perfection
For the surveyor of YouTube after each win, I can assure you not all are crediting us. If they do, they do it conditionally or they're more impressed with SF. Stephen R(eprehesible) is more impressed by the Niners. Hasselbeck credits our scheme and is worried about Lamar getting hurt because he ran "16" times!!!!!!! WTF bald dude? Don't indirectly hope for injury by feigning worry about future injuries! Arrington and Gonzalez don't even make an effort to hide their disdain for Lamar, especially Gonzalez like the dude has won multiple SBs! There are so many that are getting on the bandwagon but are unable to seamlessly hop on for fear of looking sorry.

I mean... it’s jason Whitlock who I don’t want to be sharing opinions with... but the Steve young comp is one I pointed out just last week. I see so much more Steve young in Lamar than I see Vick. I think being a fast black qb is where the comparisons start and stop with Lamar and Vick and I’m SIIIICCCCKKK of hearing it.

Its just another case of everybody has to be compared to somebody. Why? Lamar is an original. His play has pushed Vick back to the spotlight. You know he's loving it, and I'm a little irritated by his resurgence in fame (Sorry, but I can't shake the idea that this dude was torturing and killing dogs for fun). Please stop comparing him to Lamar.

You'd think a Steelers fan would have more hatred for the Ravens than the Cowboys, but that's none of my business tho.
he still remembers those 70's Super Bowl battles with the Cowboys. It was a huge rivalry then and although it's quite dormant now, many people still consider it a rivalry.

and that includes a timeout and two minute warning.

He puts incredible pressure on the defense because even the slightest hesitation in these short yardage situations can lead to Ingram getting more of a push or Lamar can just keep it himself and race for the first down before anyone even realizes he has the ball. Lamar's ball fakes are just amazing to watch; so many times you'll see defenders sell out on Ingram or Gus and Lamar will still have the ball. The Niners did a better job than any other team in defending us, but even they kept falling for the fakes. Lamar is just special.

it's truly an art form.

there's an awesome one with a safety on the 49ers who supposedly has lamar following the rb well after the hand off and has literally no idea that lamar has the ball still and completely missed his assignment

Lamar Jackson is incomparable. He is the MVP by a distance. Here are some attributes that he possesses that makes him incomparable at least in this sport. Determination, humility, work ethic, self-deprecation, correcting perceived or real deficiencies, making others better, a great team guy, ridiculously competitive with the ability to single handedly carry his team to victory and extremely dedicated to being the best he can be.

Now football specific? Incredibly football smart, instincts to decipher defenses instantly, judgment, passing angles and accuracy (vastly improved and a very natural thrower) and most importantly is a 6'2" Barry Sanders running the ball.

If anyone seriously believes this type of talent comes about every year, you are foolish. If you think he comes about once a decade, you are wrong. If you think this is a once in a lifetime talent? All I say in response is how many lifetimes are we talking about??

His feel for time management and speed of the offense is something I don't think has been mentioned. He's overall football IQ and understanding of the game is so much farther than it should be at this stage of his game.

I've mentioned it a few times before, but, yeah, he has total command of the offense. We wouldn't see all the pre-snap motions if Lamar wasn't able to relay the playcall and get everyone lined up in an efficient manner like he's been able to do.

I truly believe that next year, should Roman stay, that our offense is going to look completely different.
I agree. I think Lamar will throw it a bit more, especially if we get some more playmakers on the outside. The offense should look the exact same unless Yanda retires (plz god no) but I think EDC adds one or two more studs on the outside for Lamar (A.J. Green? Mike Evans trade?) :)

A phenom! He'll take the NFL world by storm over the next decade. Once he gets his bearings in and learns his play book that is being devised by Greg Roman, he'll be the deadliest single weapon in the NFL. Those that think Baker is close to Lamar Jackson in talent or victories will be shocked. He's the best QB in the 2018 draft class and the next few years will prove that beyond a doubt. All his naysayers about his passing will be surprised as well. He's thrown for 10K yds and run for 5K yds with 110 TDs in his college career. His first year there was no playbook for him so they just utilized his running ability to win games. Once he gets the run pass option down, he's going to be hard to stop.
