Lamar Jackson

And if you notice, none of the defenders seem eager to deliver a huge hit to him. Yes, the rules do hinder defenders from doing so, but for the most part, they just have respect for him if that makes sense.
They’re also scared to really go in and hammer him because they don’t wanna end up in a highlight reel

also because it's more important to get him down than to make him regret running - because, as you say, if they don't get it perfect, he's out the backdoor and they end up on the highlights - and even if they do get it right, it's likely that lamar's able to mitigate the impact of the attempted hit anyway because that's one of his best skills

and also they dont want to be the guy who fucked up lamar

Not complaining because I fully understand why, but it hurts seeing Lamar missing some of that long speed this year that he's had previously. Feels like he's so close to breaking some long runs but just doesn't have the same juice to outrun guys like he used to with the muscle gain. I think that was still the right decision to pick up the weight, but still some runs that year 1 or 2 Lamar would have scored on. Good thing is that the change of direction skills remain completely unchanged.

The problem is, people don't appreciate enough all the great stuff he does for the team on the field. No D plays comfortably against us, he changes the way they think and play.

Fuck 300 passing yards a game. Give me those 3rd down conversions any Sunday instead.
I think fans and media alike all appreciate the great stuff he does for us. Lamar is constantly praised for his athleticism and play making abilities.

That doesn't mean we ignore inconsistency and poor throws. He ranks in the bottom of the league in CMP% and it showed again with some bad misses on Monday. Still lots to improve on in his passing game and theres nothing wrong with admitting as much.

more important is that burst and change of direction - i think he's found a really good balance this year - and it's not like he's slow - he's still a threat to house it if you give him a hole and no safety... just not the elite track athleticism that he maybe had in 2019

I really wonder if it's just something he and the Ravens will have to live with for however long he's here, or if it's the unfamiliarity of his weapons at the moment because he was hitting those in the first few weeks with Mark and Bateman instead of Likely and Robinson. Part of me thinks it's the former and we'll just have to take the good with the bad as fans of Lamar after he gets paid

it was funny seeing people be down on lamar in the immediate aftermath because of 3 missed throws and then listening to national media tv and podcasts waxing lyrical about how amazing lamar is even when the box score says he might not have been

changed my perspective on what we've been watching so much - especially as this year ive struggled to watch as many other teams as in the past which means my perception of how good/bad this offence is has in many ways been warped by just how good we've been over the past 4 years

according to DVOA we have the number 3 offence...

points are down, explosive plays are down all across the NFL - a lot of us haven't been grading the ravens on a curve like we should have been

I mean.....he still did have that TD run against the Dolphins, but I understand your point. It's weird watching him because it he "looks slow" but he looks like that he's gliding for a big run.

Agreed. Not that I’m mad or anything. It’s the best decision for his long term prospects. Just hurts seeing things that would have been TDs 3 years ago

Yeah it’s not like he can’t do it anymore. Just doesn’t have the same pull away speed eight the weight gain. Still one of the biggest threats out there regardless.

This is exactly where I am with it. I’m totally cool with accepting those inconsistencies because his other attributes, both tangible and not, are more important for sustainable success in Baltimore. And I’m completely cool with paying him a shit load of money because I’d rather have Lamar l(good and bad) than 2-3 first round picks on the roulette wheel that is the draft.

No that’s facts though. When Lamar shrugged off a certain sack from cam Jordan, he turned around and there’s his own RT punching the fucking ball out of his hands, Lamar scoops it, runs, drops a BOMB right in Demarcus Robinsons hands, and the cb unfortunately made an incredible play. That goes in the stat sheet as a fucking fumble and incompletion, and most fans, even our own, won’t look past those numbers by the end of the season.

It’s all these things. Lamar is feared respected league wide, on so many levels. I think fans and talking heads genuinely have no idea just how good Lamar is at what he does, all they’re ever gonna see is limitations compared to the traditional pocket qb.

Crazy that morgan hands went straight for the ball lol..

Clearly PFF gave him credit for a forced fumble because otherwise I cannot figure out how they gave him a 93.0 grade for the game.

especially as he basically gave up a sack (albeit it didnt become a sack)
and also the play where lamar had to push him out of the way to get the 3rd down run lol
