Lamar Jackson

This shit hurt me heart
I ain't going to lie, me to man! Lamar is my dude but all this stuff he's pulling lately is starting to piss me off! He's starting to come off as RG3 did early in his career when he was solely focused on "building his brand" more than playing ball. He's out here interviewing himself, allegedly, his "business partner" is out there trying to contact franchises on his behalf, and he's promoting a portable workout gym? C'mon, son! You are doing too damn much! Everything but playing ball! Smh!

I noticed no one's mentioned that the gym looks like those old 6 disc cd players. I was hoping the product would at least look dope.
I honestly thought those were CDs are first

I completely understand why Lamar trusts his close circle over conventional wisdom. For most of his life, he's been right to do so, and it has put him in a position to make a lot more money than he ever would have.

-If he'd followed the advice of outsiders, he would have gone to top college as a WR prospect.
-If he'd worked out at the combine, he might have been viewed or picked as some kind of gadget super-Taysom type.
-If he'd signed early, because his play style "will lead to injuries" he might have got less overall.

(Though that one's debatable. He'll certainly feel like he was right to hold out, as he's watched the Ravens offers increase over time but is he taking into account that his career's not infinite and years of earning are passing him by?)

However, it's past time that he started getting professional advice. His business ventures and contract negotiations are embarrassing for a star of his stature.

When I heard he was using an unlicensed agent, I assumed it was that Omni guy who got Tunsil and Roquan their top of the market deals but no, it was some grifter who put some weights an a box and convinced Lamar it was a genius idea.

Lamar has made said in the past that he's content to trust the coaches to coach and for DeCosta to build the roster, so we know he's not averse to giving up control on principle.

It's very possible that this Ken Francis guy Is the person responsible For leaking to Steven smith. The so called member of Lamar's camp.

I don’t buy anything coming from the media as it pertains to the Ravens and Lamar. They both have been silent about it for the most part with Lamar at times refuting some things

Harry Douglass on get up just said Lamar should not step on the field until all demands are met. SMH

I think my current preferred outcomes in order :
1. Retain Lamar on the tag, have him play out the year. Prove he can stay healthy and dominate again.
2. Trade
3. Short term deal with more guaranteed dollars
4. Long term deal, assuming the offer is the current Ravens offer range

The longer this goes, the less It feels like we should commit long term. No doubt he is one of the best on the field, but lots of questions with health and this circus.

Team building, I like it.

TBH his business ventures and contract negotiations are embarrassing for anyone, much less an NFL player.

No problem with not having an agent on a rookie contract, first round picks pretty much have their deals pre arranged. But it was foolish to not hire an agent in 2020 when the Ravens approached with extension offers and he was on top of his game. Comparatively speaking, Lamar has lost a lot of dollars trying to save pennies. Also, if he performs well and can stay healthy he would be that much closer to negotiating a second extension possibly worth much more.

The idea that an agent would make this easier is weird when you see Peyton Manning held the Colts hostage TWICE, Drew Brees with Saints (literally filed a grievance because they tried to short change him) and then held out, Roquan Smith burned every single bridge he could find on the Bears, Dakota Prescott got tagged after messy contract cycles and then broke his ankle, and do I have to tell you about Aaron Rodgers? If Flacco did not have the personality of a bag of raisins then it would have been talked about more outside of our fan base.

I say all that to say that an agent or not would not necessarily make this easier. Honestly, up this point it hasn't even been messy compared to all those guys I named.
