The Good, The Bad and The Ugly - Jags edition

The problem is his inability to just pick a frikin play and get it sent in. He over thinks this stuff and its a massive disadvantage to the offense. Lamar has no time to read the defense, Andrews no time to figure out the soft spots, whos the Mike, RBs identifying the Blitzer etc. etc. Instead of settling into the play its a massive scramble just to get it off. Mistakes always follow when you rush
I'd say this is the most legitimate by a mile of the complaints of GRo. Across years, across centers, across weeks of the season this had been a recurring issue.

Also been an issue on his last 2 teams

You are right Bored we just thought about Lamar reading the D but not about the TEs and the Wrs having time to scan the field as well. Good point!

I'm in agreement with you the the team in whole has been shitty and in large part because of the roster construction and injuries. But , I and many others will look at Lamar in a vaccum as you say, why? Because he wants the biggest contract in the NFL. Look we will not have the Ws we we have right now if it wasn't for Lamar. I don't have the false expectation of Lamar being a manning, Brady, Mahomes, insert whatever elite passer you can think of. But he clearly needs to step up his game in passing no denying that and we think the next year after the next he's going to make that step and nope hasn't happened.

Now let me ask you if we get a new OC, healthy wrs, new wrs etc.. and he continues with the same passing issues are you ok with that?
Agreed with everything in your first paragraph. His deep ball is the one thing in particular he needs to cleanup. You could also say not locking on to Andrews but I still think personally that that one is because of the roster sucking.

Now to your question in the second paragraph. The answer is absolutely not. Let me be clear. And I also want to apologize for coming off more antagonistic than I wanted. I agree with you that it's a very big decision to commit most in league money to a guy. You should be sure about it.

In an ideal world the mess of 2021 injuries don't happen and we see how far a talented GRo team could go. Because he had this masterful year in 2019, 2020 was ok but worse, and then he was given a pass on 2021. We should've known for sure whether GRo was the answer for Lamar at the end of last season. Injuries ruined that.

Then GRo is brought back for 2022. But this time we still have injuries and EDC got rid of every WR on the team lolol. So yet again it's ambiguous as to whether GRo is the right OC and system for Lamar. It may cause him to be the OC yet again in 2023!

We are now in the very rough position of potentially needing to sign Lamar long term and we haven't seen him with anyone other than GRo. It would be really really risky to sign him and then bring someone else in because what if it was GRo that really was building him up the whole time and the problems were with the other parts of the roster?

Ultimately I see 3 options.

1) We sign Lamar long term, keep GRo, and continue to fail to improve the skill positions

Outcome: You've seen the best Lamar Jackson already

2) We sign Lamar long term, keep GRo, but actually fix the skill positions.

Outcome: I think you see the MVP candidate LJ8 again. Anything else and you'd be very disappointed.

3) We sign Lamar long term, and we move on from GRo, and fix the skill positions. I'll ignore not fixing them because you know that outcome.

Outcome: Unknown. This is what's scary. We've never seen anyone else in charge of Lamar. Maybe GRo has been building him up or maybe he's been holding him back.

Ok I swear I watched a different game then a lot of yall. Please chime in on where you disagree. To not make things too long, this will just regard the offense, more posts to come.

Overall sentiment:

Not even on phase of the team played a clean game and that's responsible for the loss.

Offense:

Many say LJ had a bad game. I literally couldn't disagree more. I think Lamar largely only had 2 plays to the detriment of the team. Imo the overthrow to DRob and the horrendous 4th down sneak. Otherwise the dude constantly made something out of nothing, ran all over the Jags, and threw legitimately 3 TDs that were just simply dropped.

DRob with a dropped TD pass, no excuse.
Oliver with a dropped TD pass, no excuse. Today he showed on multiple occasions that he has a tendency to jump too early and it fucks everything up.
Andrews with a dropped TD pass, no excuse. Horrible drop here.

Gus with an untimely fumble loss.

Otherwise the offense was fine IN SPITE of having one of the weakest skill position groups in the league. How can anyone say anything other than you're a fucking professional athlete, catch the god damn ball when you're unimpeded, wide open in the endzone. This is a non story here today if the offense makes the simplest of catches. Does Lamar need to have better consistency on deep balls, hell yeah. Do we need to stop fumbling in the 4th quarter, hell yeah. But today, oh boy today the team let Lamar down big time. He's the only reason that game was even close. If they had helped him it would have been a blowout.
I’m very mad at the catch call but it’s sad that I just expected us to give up a TD the very next play

no way man eating dick is for women as well. Lamar never gendered that man, so tech he was just throwing out a generalized "eat a dick". Its gay of Hensley to assume only gay guys eat dick

Not an anti gay remark, eating dick just happens to be gay

I lied he called him "boy" Lamar is a homophobe

Why was Lamar connecting on the deep ball in his 2019 MVP season but not this year?

He really has regressed on these deep throws. I'll say generally he has improved on other types of throws though.

He's been throwing a shit ton of sidearm and low balls too. Before any of yall get yall panties twisted (not an anti gay remark lol) I'm not saying he sucks.

But he has regressed this year hence my previous comments about him peaking at passing.

I'm legitimately asking. To your eye do you think he's doing more side arm than in years past? This is something I feel like has been pretty consistent since 2019. But could definitely be wrong here.

His deep ball has definitely been off. But it wasn't off with Hollywood very much. It wasn't off with Bateman early in the year. It's been off with Duv (its literally never not been off with Duv) and it's been off with DRob. I think fundamentally DRob is still new and not fast enough. Lamar hasn't adjusted to that yet. Oh yeah same thing with Tylan. He overthrew Tylan when we needed it.

On another note though, DJax has had 2 bombs thrown his way one which was a huge gain last game and one vs the saints where the defender broke it up amazingly but the ball was on the money.

I think Lamar struggles to throw deep balls to guys without real deep speed. And Duv just fundamentally lacks any awareness or nuance on deep balls. The guy is just bad. This is at least my thought on things.

To me it's worse this year (side arm) but I will admit I'm paying more attention for the sole reason he hired someone to help fix these issues and it seems it got worse.

Also what the heck happened with Duv he was hot for a few games got everyone hyped up and has disappeared since.

Ok I'll pay more attention to the side arm.

Duv had the luxury of Bateman, DRob, and Amdrews. That group is not elite by NFL standards but people had to respect Bateman and Andrews. Belichick said their game plan was to give Andrews what hell get and stop Bateman altogether. With Bateman out, Andrews becomes receiver 1 and you're left with Duv and DRob trying to pick up the pieces. But both are WR3 types.

You are probably right but those comments would get you fired from many corporations in today's crazy world.
Of course it would. Because it makes the Corporation look bad if it becomes public. Just like this does.
But NFL players aren't held to the same standard as the Accountant at the Corporation is. They're far more valuable, and far more interactive on social media than most other people are.

Plus most comments on social media by most people are largely anonymous. The reality is that most of us could, in fact, tell somebody to eat a dick on social media (I've done it many times) and nothing would happen to us, because our employer would never find out or care enough to take action on it.

I’m sure Lamar would be fine

Could be worse, could be living in Chinas zero Covid utopia.

We really should stomp Denver, every week they’re talking about firing their coach potentially. I don’t even want to imagine losing that game, I think Harbaugh shines through in this scenario and gets the team back on track

Denver is probably the second worst team in the league so we better.

Well, I mean, realistically, points will be at a premium. Maybe we surprise people and score a bunch, but like Denver has arguably the best defense in the entire league. They just can't do anything on offense.

So like we may score 17 and win. Wouldn't surprise me.

Yep expect a low scoring win.

Hilarious how you guys defend Lamar no matter what. I have a little experiment for you guys today. Try saying exactly what he said on twitter to a customer or a business partner and see how it goes for ya. Report your results back here after you’re fired.
It worked for Elon tho

Here's an experiment... let's follow you around at work with cameras and mics. Not just while you're working but meetings too. Then when you're not working have all your social media followed as well while random people approach you in the street pointing out you're bad days at work and asking you why you sucked that day. Hell, let's also appoint you a role model cause the children. Report your results back...

And remember there's already records here of things you've said so I'm sure you'd be more level headed under more scrutiny. Take that shit somewhere else
Can we also pay Sizzle a few million. Look I understand where you’re coming from but I felt the same way when Torrey would engage haters on Twitter, why validate them with a response? I still think Lamar is a class act that just got mad after a heated loss, but it was dumb
