The Awful, The Run Defence and The Offence

Read the LFW article on br.com, Harbaugh, you are the coach so what gives?:

Edwards had three carries for two yards, compared to 26 snaps and 17 carries for J.K. Dobbins, who posted 93 rushing yards.
"I wasn't happy about that, in all honesty," Harbaugh said. "Gus should have played more – there's no doubt about it. That was something that … We should have had him out there more, and [there's] really no excuse for that."

Does this mean he’s frustrated with Roman?
He should be frustrated with Roman but not sure if giving Gus more carries would have helped last night. Clearly the stillers were keying on our run game. I was actually surprised that JK had 93 yards.

Generally agree. Was small sample size, but as soon as everybody realized Steelers were flooding the box to stop the run, I expected it to be a lot more Dobbins and Hill and a lot less Edwards.
3 carries probably isn't enough, but hard to find many spots where like he would have been more effective than others were.

Honestly at a macro level I wasn't that frustrated with the game. Played out pretty much how I thought. Wasn't any chance in the hell the Steelers were just going to allow us to run up and down the field on them, and it was going to come down (as it typically does) to execution in the red zone, winning third down, and Huntley making a play or two when needed.

5/12 on third down isn't terrible but not good enough, and Steelers were great on third down.
Two trips to the red zone isn't enough, and the backbreaker is getting a big time ST return with outstanding field position and being unable to even attempt a FG in that spot. Totally changes the game.

Obviously defense got run on quite a bit, but did generally clamp down in the red zone when it needed. I really don't put this loss on them much at all.

Idk if frank is good for us but id rather have outside guys than inside. im sure the inside guys have tried to help or give their input on how to fix the passing game and the shit still has sucked.
imo, I think Frank would be a perfect fit for us, but agree I would rather have an outside guy. That being said, I wouldn't mind Urban, because he could bring some of the running game while also bringing in more knowledge from the passing game due to being a WR coach for the Bengals previously.

I’d much rather have Linderbaum but I agree. I just can’t trust Bateman anymore. I wouldn’t mind signing/trading for one or two WRs while also selecting a WR high. Time to give Lamar the Hurts/Tag treatment
Anytime Bateman was on the field AND we utilized him, he produced. That being said, due to health issues I agree. However if he can stay healthy he could be a #1 WR.

Caldwell!!

But he's a deep threat. He shouldn't be a WR1. He should be a deep threat, but WR1 is just forcing it cuz we have no receivers.

One thing I knew was going to happen is that Dobbins wasn't going to get the yards he got in game one. That I knew wouldn't happen. I had the Steelers winning a close game because that is how this rivalry goes and totally agree that the backbreaker wasn't getting any points on Justice Hill's long kickoff return. What a waste.

The sad thing is that at the beginning of the season, we had the best offense in the league. What happened?

I wish Trace McSorley was our backp

This response is inexcusable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He should thank his lucky stars I am not Biscotti!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
McSorely throws WAYYY too many picks. I think we could roll with Huntley if we had CALDWELL as our OC

When asked about why Gus wasn't utilized in the run game vs the Steelers last night Harbs said: "Yeah! You know, I wasn't happy about that in all honesty, Gus should have played more! There's no doubt about it! That's something we should have had him out there more and uh, you know, really no excuse for that!"

sorry, but watching those longer pass attempts last night by Huntley, I came to the conclusion that he either has the worst noodle arm of any current NFL quarterback or he is playing with an injury. IMHO, No OC can fix what I witnessed Last night.
