The Missed Tackles, the Injuries and the Special Teams

Baffles me that Lamar and the Ravens pass attack is STILL on the bottom end in attempts. How is this possible?

Lamar is currently 22nd in the league in attempts. Guys like Dobbs, Baker, Jordan Love, and Zack Wilson all have significantly more attempts and some in FEWER games
Would have liked to see more attempts yesterday, we couldn’t break anything in the run game besides Mitchell early

Yeah a week ago they anointed Lamar MVP and had the ravens a lock for the SB. The media are poop.
That loss to the Browns after being up by 14 pts at least 4x in that game (I believe) was not a good look for a division leader and 2nd place team in the entire AFC. That was fuggggly!

If we managed to get up on an opponent by 14 points at least 4 times in the game then your defense is probably the issue there don't you think?

Maybe, but it doesn't have to be the case. Sometimes the other team is good, or even exceptional and they will score no matter how the D plays. It's these games where you can't afford the dumb turnovers.

Sincerely thought we’d be a lot more pass heavy this season and it sucks that it’s not happening. I’d also love to get Keaton involved in the pass game as well

Monken shows flashes of brilliance with a few “what the fuck” calls mixed in. I know it all can’t be perfect, and there will be growing pains, but lord do I miss the Kubiak days. I’m just tired of the cute shit going on that never fucking works. And stop putting a FB on a route

You know what pissed me off a lot yesterday, when Lamar was hit clearly out of the bounds the announcer Harped on it forever like Lamar deserved it and the crowd and team was dumb for getting fired up, replay clearly showed we were right and he still wouldn’t admit he was wrong
He was definitely out of bounds.

Regarding the O-line, I agree with @QtR Nevermore that is has been good overall. But, if the injuries start piling up now, I think we're going to suffer from missing too many mid-round picks over the last 5 years. Phillips and Cleveland being notable misses and Faalele is looking like too much of a developmental project to be worth a 4th. Add on Bredeson who we failed to find a roster spot for and Sala looking like he's a couple of years of development until he can contribute and we should have done better on that specific part. I probably forget some, but outside of our 1st rounders in Stanley and Linerbaum, we haven't gotten much out of our draft picks.

Edit: obviously forgot about Powers, but as great as he was in year 4, he didn't do too much until then
I think you're right about EDC's O Line drafting history. He often seems to go for size over skills and none of those picks have worked out well, so far. (When DeCosta did stray away from drafting for size he hit on Powers)

Tyre, Cleveland, Faalele and Sala were all huge Guard prospects and they haven't got much from any of them so far. I'm not sure what prototype they're going for, because most of the top Guards in the league aren't hugely tall. Yet our developmental Guards often have the same issue with not getting low enough and allowing defenders to get leverage on them.

It seems an easy draft strategy to fix.

Isn't the low number of pass attempts just a result of leading for almost every minute of the season?

I don't think this Ravens team is hugely run heavy in neutral situations.

Just looking at attempts

we are number 1 is rush attempts with 324. Top 5 teams in order Ravens, Browns, Falcons, Bears, GIants

We are bottom 4 in pass attempts with 284. Top 5 teams in order Broncos, 49ers, Titans, Ravens, Steelers

Through last week (not including this weeks games), Ravens were the most run-heavy team in the league. It's a 54/46 run:pass ratio. There's only three teams in the league coming into this week that ran more than they threw, which was Ravens, 49ers and Browns.

There were 7 teams with a 60/40 (or higher) pass:run ratio. That was Chiefs, Jets, Patriots, Panthers, Vikings, Bengals and Commanders.

If you look at 2019-2023 (last ~5 seasons), only four teams have had a higher run-ratio than the Ravens this year... Bears and Falcons in '22, Ravens in '19 and '20.

There's been a good amount of discussions in the last few months about the Ravens approach to evaluating Olineman, and that most people think there should be an emphasis on getting more "athletic" Olineman on this team.

Wouldn't be surprised if it starts to transition that way. Ran the ZBS and had uber athletic dudes for awhile, and then transitioned to the hog mollies for Roman. With Monken running less 22 personnel, more athleticism makes sense in theory.

Moses has been really good all season, Zeitler's right back to playing like Zeitler, Linderbaum's great, Simpson's been average and even Ronnie's been pretty solid a lot of the time. Add in Mekari as a pretty good back up and there's a lot of teams would love to have our O line
This only good lineman are tyler, morgan

rest are average or not good, ronnie is inconcsient and regressing, maybe Its me watching eagle, lion games that make me think the line isn't so good
