This is the chair of our finance committee. What a beaut she is huh. Doesn't even know who controls student loans.

If this doesn't show anybody how inept our govt is. 154 billion in 2009 to 1.1 tril in 2017 and now I believe it is 1.6 tril today. Yes lets let govt fix govt fuckups. I mean who better to do it? Right.

Right now community colleges and trade schools are extremely affordable but 4 yr colleges are sky high but yet the teachers/guidance counselors push students to these schools. You know that's where you make the big dollars. Gotta get that masters or at least that bachelors. Far as I'm concerned if you're dumb enough to sign for a 25% intersest loan to major in arts or bisexual Asian studies then God bless you. That was your dumbass choice but no it's better we just throw more tax money at the situation. Its always the liberal answer cuz we're a bunch of piss poor low life human beings that cant make decisions so the govt must do this for us. Fuckin pisses me off!!! Freedom is not free!!!!

There was a bill passed in the 90's under Clinton for student loans which provided major incentive to the banks but I'd have to look it up to get complete info but that's what got this ball rolling.

Way off topic and random....but isn't it "interesting" that the people who complain about cultural appropriation if you wear a sombrero on Cinco de Mayo the same people who call you names for thinking that a man that dresses as a woman is....a man that dresses as a woman?

if you're referring to trans people then i dont find it interesting at all... there's literally no similarity between the two things...

That's true. One group knows that they are pretending to be something they're not; the other wants YOU to pretend they are something they are not.

I am not defending it, I simply just don't care what someone wants to be called. Chances are I won't be dealing with you on a daily basis or associated with you anyways.

Are they the same? No not really.

Unless you are Rachel Doziel...that's where I draw the line.

education PLEIGHBOI

Why are kids trained to believe that going to college and just getting a degree to get it because "it's better for you in the long run" being pushed so hard?

Cuz man to be somebody you got to get yourself some of that higher eddication. Other than that you gonna have plumber crack.

I'm not sure why but some people should be pushed to other careers/training. The military for example would be a great way to either further your education or get extensive traing for another field. Just an example. The real problem is why is the price so high to go to a 4 yr college. No damn reason for it.

I am not sure that you should go to the military if the intent is to get a "free" ride to college. That thought of that is insane. You should only join if you feel there is a duty to serve. That is it. My opinion on that one.

You shouldn't have to be in the position to kill someone to get some incentives thrown your way.

My friend was an active duty marine for 10 years, never saw combat, never killed anyone, served as an engineer. Now he's in college trying to get a business degree off of the GI bill.

Enlisting doesn't guarantee that you see combat. You can generally pick where you want to go. So that's BS

There's a lot of social programs out there via businesses and even in the public sector that will help pay off your student loan debt. I know of people who worked for McDonald's through college and they really helped with student loan debt. Same with Starbucks. If you find a good job in this country you can pay them off.

If you decide to work for the federal government(which employs practically every profession btw. Whether it be legislator, doctor,) if you stay for 10 years and you don't miss a student loan payment they will literally forgive your loans. On top of receiving top tier health/dental insurance and a good pension. Like most jobs in the government, you start off making less than the median household income(unless you have an advanced degree. Then most government jobs actually start with six figures.. I.e typical state department lawyer? $85,410 - $173,142. I think a lot of people wouldn't mind making that, and ontop of it ten years with student loans forgiven for law school/undergrad with a program that will pay off your loans. After ten years they can leave for the private sector AFTER getting vested for a pension.

I mean, the student loan system right now has problems, but it's the government's fault, they've never used tax dollars right so counting on them to fix it is a pipe dream, and some private companies and the public sector do have some select programs that can help. Hell, a minimum wage worker at McDonalds can get significant aid.

um what?
no they want you to respect their identity and their right to exist - that's it
I respect their right to exist. I don't care what they do. Just don't ask me to call you a woman when you have an Adam's apple bigger than your nutsack. I won't forgo common sense for the sake of political correctness.

spending those taxes that already exist better...
Because it's totally that simple.
Our government can't even agree on 52 bipartisan health care bills that would practically fix the health care system here. The government is responsible for the student debt crisis and the over $20,000 increase in tuition over the past ten years. They, along with practically every government on earth mind you, spend their taxpayer money hilariously poorly. Always have, and always will. It's why so many in this country on BOTH sides are fed up with the tax code. The dollars have been wasted for about a century.

Certain programs do exist in the private and public sector to ease the pain. That's not an opinion, that's a fact. Can/should the government take some action? Well, they won't use the taxpayer dollars more efficiently even with a majority consensus. That may be taught in schools and in textbooks as to how the government works, but like I said. Not really how it works. Believe me, I've been there. The student debt crisis can't be solved in a blink of an eye like so many people believe. It has to start at the bottom with guidance counselors. Good ones will tell people that college isn't for everyone. You can still go to a trade school in this country and have a nice life. Private companies need to play a role too, because pretty soon the employer pool is going to drain down and they're going to start losing money. More of them should probably start adopting several policies to reimburse. And several do btw. The education curriculum is hilariously inept when teaching financial literacy.

It's literally not a simple fix to this problem.

"Generally"

You know how that goes.

No. You're still wrong.

Considering that currently 80% of military jobs never require you to see combat, yeah. I'd say it's really not a bad way. I've scoured other sources, but it's true. A very small percentage of these men and women actually see combat.

https://www.military.com/join-armed-forces/military-myths.html

Additionally, many of these soldiers get hired in private companies.

Only about 10% see combat. 10% in a desk job(higher up), 80% never see it.

It's a BS stereotype perpetuated by movies.
