The Lamar, the Receivers, and the Pass Defence

And last thought for now... it's easy to blame Orr for some of the secondary issues, but gotta give him credit for how that front line worked today. Them edge boys in particular we're doing great at getting pressure AND preventing Daniels from rolling out. They played with insane discipline today even if the sack numbers don't show it.

I do think his all out blitz on the 4th down that drew PI on Wiggins was not a great choice…

ironically, by blitzing everyone, he gave the rookie the easiest possible decision...

seems like a bad choice in that spot - my concern with orr is not the defensive scheme but more that he seems to have more wink in him than MM in terms of personality with his playcalling

It feels weird to say it again this year, but it seems we again have the best version of Lamar we've ever seen, notably as a passer. Continually showing that he's getting better and better year after year. If he can ever dial in some of the bombs, good luck rest of the NFL.

year 2 in a new offence
we thought he was ahead of schedule last year... turns out he just has an insane baseline and he did have more room to improve as he got even more control within the offence

he's just so in control

and of note, he looks great against the blitz (including the zero blitz stuff) which is what has historically plagued him at times

Thought for sure that they were scheming up some disguise. I was definitely surprised to see all of those guys actually blitz. Can imagine Daniels said thank you to that one, even if it was a throw it up and hope type thing.

That's what stands out the most to me. He's sticking in that pocket and throwing where the blitz is coming from. Mental processing was always really good but it's seemingly taken another step.

Think the only things you can really critique this game are a couple of bad option decisions, one drop that was too deep, and one slightly erratic overthrow.

think it looked worse because commanders ran a bunch of no-huddle and kept guys like urban and robinson in there on passing downs which was not ideal

same for me, i saw all the guys up there and thought we were gonna rush 5 and drop everyone else out

when everyone came i had flashbacks to wink's final season

i think he's just happier with his answers vs the blitz - it definitely helps that he's got 2 WRs that can win straight off the release and also 2 TEs who are big targets who he can trust to make catches in traffic too

and also a RB he can trust both in pass pro and as a receiver - justice hill is such an unsung part of this offence

And he doesn't hesitate as often when it comes to making the decision to use his legs to get the first down. He definitely looks faster than last year. As long as the OL continues to gel, this should be the expectation going forward.

did he actually get a hand on it? on the broadcast looked like everyone missed it...
Think the one you're referencing was the extra point, which did not look like anyone touched it.

The Cleveland one was right before the half and they did not show a replay, but I used good old rewind and confirmed that he did indeed block a FG.

I think his status as a former LB means he tends to give LBs assignments they simply cant do, or should not be asked to do, especially in coverage.

Probably still be nice for the ravens to have that big wide receiver to make contested catches down the field but I guess they can make due with their tight ends.
