The Lamar, the Receivers, and the Pass Defence

The defensive playcalling will cost us a loss in the playoffs unless it improves .
Yeah it was a fun game .

Why does Roquan in this D look so out of sorts ? He looks flustered and he’s one of the best middle linebackers in the NFL.

Your best players playing well under their talent is a BAD sign .
Defense isn't going to get much better if at all, but there is no reason to be upset after beating up on our little brother again. Just enjoy the ride and hope it all clicks during the playoffs

i dont get the doom and gloom

yes there were some things of concern with the communication issues

but idk that this game was an awful defensive outing - i dont love the the all-out blitz call on the nate wiggins DPI and some other things but i really dont think it was a terrible outing

I wonder if the Ravens will replace Orr with Deen Pees and put Orr back in another defensive coaching position.
If it gets any worse , it just might happen.

I think Zach Orr got what's it takes to be a good defensive coordinator if not better. Deans Pees helps with that. His defense only gave up 23 points to the number 1 scoring offense. That's a good step in the right direction .

It was better on paper but what reason would there have been to believe that we learned anything from the Cincy game? The only reason we didn't give up 5TDs and a million yards was because we played a way worse team. Despite that we did very little to stop them at all.

The secondary and linebackers look lost in coverage . Completely. Confused at times .

I agree with you but maybe they gave him the position a little too soon .

I think this season has shown some stuff about the modern NFL.

1) Parity is extreme. Almost anyone can beat anyone else.

Look at the records across the league.

2) If you have an elite WR and a great QB, you can win games simply with that combo alone.

Davante Adams says hello.

3) If you have an elite RB and a great QB, you can win games simply with that combo alone.

The Cowboys, Bills, and Commanders say no more Henry please.

I'll confidently say Derrick Henry is the first ELITE skill position player Lamar has ever had. Andrews in his prime should get some acknowledgment but it's not the same if we're being honest.

Imagine if Lamar legitimately had a JJ, Davante Adams, Lamar Chase caliber WR.

i dont think i agree with that take at all lol

I'm also in the camp of thinking there were still concerning things on D, but it was still a pretty sizable step up. Outside of the blitz already mentioned, I didn't see anything super egregious. I saw issues that still persist, but not near as frequently as they have the past 3 games.

and i think, again, a lot of the issues look like execution issues

there were certain plays that felt situationally poor playcalls but not that many - maybe needs to have a rethink about how they're communicating on the back-end - repeated issues in that area

nothing fundamentally broken about this defence though

I think it's just easy to blame coaches honestly. I'll never absolve them of all blame of course, but it's not like Orr is the one out there blowing coverages.

I'll maintain that there are some issues, but they've gotten better and I'd be surprised if they don't continue to get better. Easy to forget that it's only been 6 games too.

wasnt expecting it to take time given the calibre of talent and their supposed comfort with each other already

but much like the OL needs/needed time to gel, the secondary does too
