Ravens Ring of Honor
He didn't. He came in under Trestman in 2015 as the QB coach.yes, he picks his own coordinators, but I believe Morningwheg came over under Kubiak.

that is on him, without a doubt. I'm not letting him off the hook. We all knew we were light at WR coming into the season, but lets not forget our offense is TE friendly and Mark Andrews is our #1 pass catcher. You are comparing our offense to a team that uses WR as the #1 read.
I mean they've made a pretty huge investment in the WR position in the draft, though many of them haven't panned out.
Yeah I'm pretty sure Harbs picks them. He does love to promote internally whenever possible which has been pretty good on the defensive side and pretty bad on the offensive side. The caveat being we've really never been good on offense lol.Would love to be a fly on the wall when these decisions are made. Do you think its purely Harbs making those decisions.
Ehh, maybe. Why do you think that's on EDC only? What about the coaches and the players? If you draft like a half dozen receivers on day 1 and 2 over a five year period, and none them pan out, do we really think that's all on scouting/GM? Would be almost impossible to sell.Which is again, why im blaming our GM, whose failures at the WR position has directly put us in the position to be kicking tires on Tavon Austin. Excuse me for holding him accountable to his job.
Why would you expect those guys to be on the field though? Everybody knows we ran a ton of two TE sets, and that Bateman and Andrews are the target monsters. No, im comparing our roster to last years roster, our WR Group is worse than last year when the Ravens are supposedly to be deciding if Lamar is the guy or not and we're supposed to be a Superbowl contender. And again the "We like our guys" comments when Duv isnt getting the ball, Proche isnt on the field, Tylan Wallace is ??? and Djax is ???
I appreciate the whole "accountability" aspect, but fans don't really have that power. And criticizing somebody on a chat board is an extremely loose definition of "accountability", given that practically nobody reads this and certainly nobody takes any real actions based on anything posted here.
Well it is. Discussion isn't the same as accountability. They're dramatically different. My bad I thought this was a fan forum thread to discuss the GM? What else was I gonna post in here when he's doing a bad job.
not only that, it's hard to improve every part of your roster in one season and next year we will be lacking in another area. It's just the nature of the beast. No team is complete.Ehh, maybe. For me, it doesn't surprise me at all that we're lacking at WR this year. Most fans could see that coming from a mile away. Whole offseason focus was on the Oline and the secondary, both of which have been greatly improved, and we had two first rounders and Andrews on the roster until literally draft day. Once Hollywood's dealt, it's kind of like "duh" that you're going be light at receiver, considering FA is basically over and you're not changing your draft strategy to reach on WRs just because you have one less now.
I'd have personally preferred a WR on day 3 rather than taking two TEs, but jury's still out on that one anyway.
True. The obvious complaint is that WR has been a weakness on this roster for so long.not only that, it's hard to improve every part of your roster in one season and next year we will be lacking in another area. It's just the nature of the beast. No team is complete.
Sure, but that's a two way street. It's not only about who we picked in the draft, it's also about who we left on the board.
and of course if we keep Hollywood, we woudn't have Linderbaum, who is arguably more important to this offense.True. The obvious complaint is that WR has been a weakness on this roster for so long.
Had we kept Hollywood, nobody could have objectively complained about the pass catching group on this team.
As I said earlier in an unrelated topic, there's plenty of teams that have better weapons than we do, but there's plenty of teams who are worse also.
Or I guess we could have had Linderbaum but not had Hamilton...and of course if we keep Hollywood, we woudn't have Linderbaum, who is arguably more important to this offense.
I like both, but if we can get OBJ in here that would be huge.Well more talking points incoming! This one will be probably easy to assess in retrospect at the end of the season. This was either going to be a fantastic move or a total dud.
Personally, I think this is going to be a really good move. Let's see if we can't get some WR help too. Even if it's just Mims or OBJ.
I truly think he's our missing piece for a shot at a SBI like both, but if we can get OBJ in here that would be huge.
I think Roman's receiver usage would make him a bit of a waste. I wish it was different, but from San Fran to Buffalo until now, every target gets funnelled towards a primary guy or a second option.I truly think he's our missing piece for a shot at a SB
Well couple things:I think Roman's receiver usage would make him a bit of a waste. I wish it was different, but from San Fran to Buffalo until now, every target gets funnelled towards a primary guy or a second option.
Either OBJ or Bateman (or Duvernay) would get pushed out of the top two and barely see a target at all.
In theory, that would be great but I think, in practice, even in a passing game script, every play would still be designed to go to Andrews and/or OBJ, making relatively easy to stop no matter who's at WR.3. OBJ would largely be a bet on the playoffs or against top teams, when you have more "negative" game scripts, i.e. can't just run the ball on everybody and control the clock.
