Lamar Jackson

You can’t do that with a GM. They need some time to do things their way. Look at the Colts and Ballard. That didn’t happen in his first year.

I’m not sure it was a coaching decision as much as it would be a front office decision. Joe would play if needed and that’s why he was backup, but I don’t think we wanted to play him unless absolutely necessary
yeah, that's why I said three years. Ballard has done it in two. The colts in one season went from a team with a shitty oline and bad defense to the opposite. A large part of it has to do with Andrew Luck, but this past offseason from the colts is the bulk of why the roster did a total 180. That oline is lowkey one of the best in football and the defense is a lot different.

Eric has the chance to do something similar. After 3 years we will know better because start of Lamar's fourth year is when we decide whether to pick up the fifth year option. That should be his window if you ask me. Lamar has the tools to develop, make his development easier and get him a team. If we continue this nonchalance with Lamar like we did with Joe, Eric should walk. And it's not debatable at all.

That's a short leash for a GM. And what he should get. We don't need to ride the QB carousel again. If we get Lamar all those things and Lamar still busts, that's a different story, but if we leave the guy out to dry like Ozzie has done recently... He should walk.

And you're not going to change my mind.

He rarely has both hands on it. The most important job next offseason is to coach the fumbles out of him. I'm not worried about passing - that'll come.

harbs came out in his presser and basically said the mid-season offensive switch is partly responsible for the ball-handling issues because they havent had time to really practice that read-offence ball-handling stuff so they're not a great ball-handling offence with that mesh point etc. but that that will obviously be a focus of this offseason

Regardless of my frustration with Jackson, the offense and its playcaller today, we dont get to the playoffs without Jackson and the style that he brings on the field which enabled the defense to stay fresh and play to their potential.

Something has to give though . We can't go through 3 quarters with -2 passing yards. We have to assume that every team we come up against from now on will have a way to stop Jackson and the offense. The coaches - whoever they may be next season - needs to come up with a better game plan for when things are going downhill in a game. Today, they failed completely.

I felt bad for Jackson with all of those booes, I hope for his sake that he understands why thee was frustration.

I'm curious.

Why is it that if we complained about the OL, OC or WRs when Flacco was starting, certain people would claim you are making excuses and are an apologist and Flacco needs everything handed to him to be successful, but yet some of those same people are doing exactly that with Lamar?
When Flacco was winning left and right, it was a "team game because Qbs don't get credit for team victories", but 'Lamar is 6-2' when it is clear that the defense carried us to where we are?

Just so we're clear. Until Lamar accomplishes 1/10th of what Flacco did, he has some huge shoes to fill and a high standard to live up to.

It was a team effort in wins and losses, but our beat opportunity to make the playoffs this season was Lamar. Now we need to develop him in the offseason and expand the offense.

im obviously pissed and frustrated about the entire first 3 quarters and the fact we had after 50 mins only 3 points and -2 passing yards is absolutely unacceptable...

that being said the rally towards the end was awesome and we just ran out of time

as it has been through now 8 games of lamar we've seen he can do the extraordinary and make those throws and be that playmaker - the struggle through all these games has been consistency - and part of that is playcalling and a lack of trust - in a game where we were trailing the whole time we still called fewer than 30 pass attempts which is crazy - we were way too predictable and while lamar didnt execute at all well we still put him in really poor positions

im disappointed about how the first 3 quarters went and just how abysmal they were but im proud of lamar's 4th quarter and the way he played in that pressure cooker

and im absolutely embarrassed by the fans who jimmy smith rightly called 'fair weather fans' who booed lamar in the 3rd quarter of his first playoff game - like be disappointed and be pissed off etc. but booing a rookie who got us here in his first playoff game is ridiculous and embarrassing and im glad jimmy called them out (here's what he said: https://twitter.com/jonas_shaffer/status/1082034517471363073)

he indicated that he wants to stay, that he's been given every indication by the organisation that they feel the same way and hasn't heard any different

plus there's the fact that we put out the statement before the chargers game week 16 - as disappointing as this loss is i dont see why this loss would change his position

my reckoning is that a team would have to empty the tank in draft capital to get us to even consider trading him and there's no way he's getting fired at this point

Just because they were booing doesn’t mean they were booing Lamar. Some were surely but what’s wrong with booing when your team fucking sucks? Who says they weren’t booing Marty? Or the Oline? Or the whole team in general?

If I spend all that money to go to that game I probably would’ve been fucking booing too.

I went to games during the kneeling situation last season. Lets just say I would be incredibly shocked if most of those boos were not directed towards Lamar.

Yeah theres definitely a ton of assumption making going on about the booes but there were apparent shouts for Flacco during the second half.

I'm pretty sure it was more than booing - Jimmy isn't born yesterday, something nastier must have ticked him off.

He has to understand that. Being on this team comes with expectations. I was listening to a podcast about head coaches and which job sounds more appealing. GB popped up and someone said I’d rather have the Browns job because while they’re an upcoming team, you expect less. GB is expected to be in the playoffs year in and year out. For the most part, the Ravens are expected to as well.

I think Jackson gets better. He has made good throws, but is way too inconsistent. I’ll probably get my head put on a chopping block, but I’d like to see Marty with a full offseason under his belt with LJ and see how he progresses.

As a Sixers fan, I always hear if Ben Simmons starts knocking down jumpers, look out. If Lamar catches up on the passing game, look out. Super talented and if you add in a passing game to go with that run option, they’re gonna be tough to stop. He’s a quarterback you 100% build the offense around. Bring in bullies in the line and receivers that complement him.

I’m excited for this new era Ravens. Love Flacco and wish him the best, but Lamar got us into the playoffs and while I was frustrated, I’m ready to ride it out with him. They catered an offense around Lamar on the fly and it worked well until they started crowding the line.

yeah i mean he literally went and had a shouting match with some people on the sideline - so im pretty sure when he says that's what the sentiment was and why it got under his skin i tend to believe him
Lmao not like Jimmy has the best history in verbal arguments. The way he played today, combined with his contract and how he never plays a full year, I wouldn’t be upset for his ass to leave
