That would be a Hell of a pick. There’s other guys I’d rather have, but Murray makes sense for us in a lot of ways. I would rather have Schobert as well just because he’s a known commodity and he can be had as a FA, allowing us to use more draft capital in the draft at other positions
I was never opposed to taking elite LB early but would absolutely hate it this year.
Yeah, I’d rather we go in another direction personally. That said, ILB is a massive need and having a guy like Murray would do wonders for our run defense allowing those massive yards. It’s one of the reasons we lost games this year. I would rather just sign Schobert though and use our draft capital elsewhere like at WR, edge, or IDL.
I'd pass on Schobert, too. We need to spend money on D line and edge.
Can’t disagree on either but we need a sideline LB. Losing Mosley hurt us in those games we lost this year.
With better edge, our current LBs should be just fine, I reckon.
Don’t get me wrong, I think we need way better edge and that edge is our biggest priority. I just think we’ll need to get creative in solving all our problems. Better interior DL pressure & better edge play would mask our problems and so would better LB play. I don’t think we can fix edge and interior DL in one season. I think we could improve them to a better spot where we can mask our weaknesses. I hope Bowser and Ferguson take a step forward and we sign guys back for edge like Ward or McPhee or both and bring back Bynes and Ellis. If we can get Campbell (Hopefully cut?), and Shaq Lawson and Schobert in FA we would be great. I’d like to bring back Judon but I don’t think we have the money.
I like Murray and I agree he would be great after watching limited film. I am pounding the table for an edge defender but if one isn’t there we can’t force it either. We could use lots of upgrades across both offensive and defensive lines. We could also use an upgrade across from Brown. I want the best player in the first round I don’t care about their position.
Javon kinlaw is a sexy pick and he’s pretty commonly regarded as a top 20 guy. Neville gallimore interests me every bit as much as kinlaw though
I watched a few highlights and one game from Kinlaw but I liked what I saw. He could be a top-20 pick when it’s all said and done, possibly higher.
That’s exactly how I feel. Murray wouldn’t be my favorite first round pick but he wouldn’t be terrible either. I just want an excellent player there regardless of position. I’ll be good if we take ILB, Edge, DL, OL, WR, and even RB but that would only be for Swift. I really hope we fix a few of those in FA so our draft can be pure BPA. Reaching on positions to fill needs killed us.
I’d prefer we sign Schobert to drafting him, but what do you firmly dislike so much? Not asking rhetorically either. I think he’s a great prospect but has some major flags too.
