General Draft Thoughts

Saying that from day one. His bend and get off is great and he’s incredibly powerful. He’s kinda the ideal edge rusher for us imo, fits our style, he’s not super athletic or explosive but he makes up for it with a good jump and just knowing how to flatten the edge, Derek Barnett-esque

ive come around on him a little - have him in a similar range to willekes who i also came around on a bit

have weaver 80th and willekes 81st on the board right now

Oh nah, I have willekes substantially lower on my imaginary board. I like willekes but not until 4/5. Curtis weaver I genuinely would understand at 28. Not preferable at all but I think he’s talented enough with the right skill set to be explainable

I like the way the board fell here, even got the luxury pick of superstar Cam Akers:

2 4th rounders
1 5th rounder
1 7th rounder
God this just smells trade up. I know we are typically a team that loves hoarding picks but you cant help but think with Decostas aggressiveness and being in win now mode that we wouldn't try and trade up for a falling stud. Especially someone who would be an immediate plug and play guy like Queen, Chaisson, Any top 3 WR, Gross-Matos. Personally I'd want Ruggs or Jeudy. Also where's Muti projected? I think hes in the running to be our 1st pick

please

i will not tolerate any pro murray or gross-matos. Those two are overhyped and way too raw and inconsistent with matos and way overrated in general with murray.

Not a big fan of Murray but I do really like Matos. And I think hed fit well with the Dline we built. Not changing my opinion on that

I see what you mean but I think you could also argue that the hurst trade was an aggressive move to grab a falling player in the class

I think if we trade up it’ll be with one of those 2nd round picks not the 1st rounder

Until now, Cesar Ruiz has been my go to first round pick.

I just think he makes the most sense, but now that the board has been updated, he doesn’t make it to 28 without a trade.

Come draft day, I’d say he would be long gone anyway.

This was a pretty broad draft.

btw I’d prefer not to go ILB in the first, but with the additions to the D-line some speed behind it would be good.

Yup. I'm leaning towards cesar ruiz in the first , troy dye in the 2nd along with justin jefferson. ( i think jefferson will be available at 55 and Dye available at 60) if there are doubts, we can always maneuver.

Ran a 7 round mock on TDN, here's the haul I ended up with

Edwards-Helaire is one of my favourite Tigers. More of a luxury than necessity, but he would be another nice toy for Roman.

Would have liked to draft a TE, but when I picked there were none that were in the realm of BPA. I also would have liked to have selected a CB, but once again the opportunity just wasn't there in this mock.

This was my 1st attempt (first post too) and I welcome any feedback!

Welcome! Edwards helaire could be a nice fit here since Ingram is just an average receiving back and Edwards helaire is about as natural a third down back as I’ve ever seen. I wouldn’t worry about a TE, we have 2 studs and any TE who is healthy and can catch could do what hurst did for us.

went pretty hard on bpa here and just ended up with a shit ton of star power. Malik Harrison and darnay Holmes are probably the only ones not in the BPA category but they aren’t far off and both fill big needs and both look like ravens for real, nasty hitters, super feisty and fiery, and you guessed it.... HEARTS OF LIONS. But overall this is a star power draft and it’s a little unorthodox but I’d be ecstatic with this turnout

Would be an outrageous haul of players

Malik Harrison and Troy dye are the 2 LBs in the class who really feel like they could be ravens - they fit what we like to do with a Mike LB

I really like queen but behind him it’s dye and Harrison I’d want

Darnay Holmes, Michael onwenu and Shane Lemieux would all be great pickups too

Totally agree on the Queen, Harrison, or Dye take. Those are my 3 guys at LB I'd want the most.

Everyone loves Queen and I get it. He's good but I don't love the positional value. I think he'd have to be a superstar linebacker to be worth a first in the Ravens system and I'm not sure he is. He very well could end up that way, because he's already a leader and it was noticeable in the 2nd half of LSU's season.

With the Ravens abilities to find inside linebackers due you feel getting a top notch Lineman like Cesar Ruiz or another great WR like Mims would be of higher importance than drafting a 1st round ILB, ie Queen?

I'm not really sure what's the fascination with Queen. He was never, ever mentioned or been on anyone's radar until the SEC and National championship games. He played well in those two but I don't think he or any other LB in this class is worth a day 1 pick, apart from maybe Simmons but he'll need to bulk up to play LB in pros.
