If we were to trade ET to someone like Dallas, that would free up 10 million? I find it hard to believe there wouldn’t be anyone interested in his services despite taking on his contract. I’m worried about his replacement.

Trade is the same as a cut and cutting him puts the Ravens 3m over the salary cap.

Neither of these are accurate.

Cutting Earl frees absolutely nothing. He'll count $15M on the cap either way if we were to cut him at this point.

If you trade him, you can save $10M this year. The team he goes to would assume his $10M guaranteed base salary. We'd be left with $5M of dead cap this year and $10M next year.

Getting to the point where it doesn't make too much sense to add guys unless we start to get low on depth. Getting close to the season and with the protocols in place, hard to get guys in to workout consistently. Just posted a new batch in the FA thread so they might be lucky enough to stick if they do even decently.

honestly think it's about reps - TE we've lost both the UDFAs (1 for the year and 1 for a little while after a big collision and likely are looking for replacements just to have people to take reps because otherwise we're literally down to 4 TEs across all teams which isnt enough really to take all the reps when its such a tight end heavy offence

both the wrs seem to have return experience but honestly it might be more of a case of the ravens being down to 9 WRs and one of them is out for a while with a broken finger - probably a reps thing again

I've been trying to keep up with training camp as much as possible and I'm super bummed about the preseason. In terms of the rookies I feel like there has been high praise for Queen, Dobbins, and Proche. With regards to the rest it's either been they made a few plays or radio silence. Outside of the rookies, I feel like there's been high praise for Lamar, Hollywood, Boykin, Andrews, Calais, and Jimmy.

All in all I'm super encouraged, upset about Earl, but what to do. I just hope Duvernay and Harrison can start to really step up too.

Per Garafolo, Earl is not expected to be at practice again tomorrow. For those doubting that they're considering doing something, this should be the sign.

I expect rookies / young players to be making these social media mistakes. Earl is a year older than me. How the heck is he this oblivious to not know it isn’t a good idea to be posting dumb shit on social media and adding gas to the fire.
It’s like he’s going the AB route. He hired somebody to guide him in how to “act out in order to get cut.” He can’t be this dumb.

With all this, I would still be upset if we just flat out cut him. I’m probably one of the biggest Deshon “Joker” Elliot stan, but we cant put all our chips in that pot with how his first 2 years went. I hope I hear about a team meeting in the next 1-3 days and they just hug it out.

If we get rid of earl, it was likely more than that one situation that happened at practice. Anyway, it would be an huge blow to secondary.. we have no one even close to earl... fuck it lets go after malik hooker

im so excited about this running back room - like it's absolutely stacked with a diverse skillset - obviously ingram and dobbins are the highlights but to have gus edwards and justice hill as your 3rd and 4th string backs is ridiculous - justice hill's athleticism is exciting and he got better at playing through contact with better balance at the end of the year and most importantly as someone whose skillset lends itself to 3rd down (despite not doing much pass catching in college) he got so much better in pass pro - notably got beaten all ends up by patrick queen though lol in a 1v1 drill in pass pro but that happens when he's so undersized but he's the type of guy who will be a matchup nightmare in the passing game as long as he keeps progressing that skillset and honestly he's looked so good in training camp so far - and then there's the gus bus whose built like a linebacker but can run away from defenders and through defenders and is so physical

what's most exciting is that all 4 can pass protect and all 4 offer something in the passing game (albeit gus is probably the least viable receiver matchup) and even more useful both gus and hill play special teams and im assuming dobbins might do as well so they'll all be activated on gameday

the diverse skillsets they offer really complement each other and will put defences in a bind - im fully expecting our RBs to do a ton of work in the passing game this year

Since the ravens were trying to get rid of earl much earlier in the offseason for something entirely not football related and frankly wasn’t that bad of an off field situation, does anyone think that the ravens just think THAT highly of deshon Elliott?

I like Elliott but is he really a S who can play single high? I'm not sure. He barely played any meaningful snaps as a pro, but what other options do we have? Geno Stone??? I wish they can resolve whatever problems they have

i mean im that high on deshon - my only problem with him has been his availability but anyone can get rolled up on at any time - that's not necessarily an indicator that a person is injury prone - it didnt happen in a non-contact context either - he got rolled up on by his own guy (justin bethel) when ranging across the field to bail bethel out

well unless something crazy happens it's official - earl's out - either by trade or by cut - preferably by trade because it would not require any legal stuff based in the conduct detrimental clause
Not too surprising, I guess. C'mon Dallas, make the trade.

i mean we dont really use specific single high safeties in that way - it's kind of been aged out of our scheme - all of our safeties have to be able to play single high but that's a fraction of what they have to do

and with regards to elliott playing that role i simply point to the play where he was injured (ill see if i can gif it here) as proof of his ability to range and drive on the ball in that manner
