The Passing Game, The Running Game and another OL Injury

There’s no way you actually believe that of us…. Every single person on this board would be calling our defense bums for allowing it, and calling the coaches babies for crying about it.

it’s a losing mentality to even begin to talk about “unsportsmanlike” in this manner, when you just got spanked at home to the most injured team in the league. We aren’t losers and don’t root for losers, that ain’t us fam.

you remember how much grief the media and other teams gave us for "telling the league on the patriots" about deflategate before their game against the colts...

somehow the ravens were the baddies in that situation... and that was legit cheating whereas this is just like a slightly petty play...

i said all offseason that we had to give Roman a chance to redesign and refine the passing game in the way he did the running game

maybe some of it is Dubb and Tee Martin (i have no idea how involved these guys are with the designs or concepts) but Roman was maligned for this, so we have to give him credit for creating this passing game

obviously Oweh in there is great

but my word look at the cowboys - the top 2 and neither of them are true EDGE guys lol - osa odighizuwa i know was one of the guys @Edgar really liked in this class too but i never got around to evaluating

im gonna say the refs were pretty blind about hits to both QBs yesterday but it seems Lamar just never gets these RTP calls even in the pocket (nothing to do with when he scrambles and refs forget to give him some protection)

I'm not really going to enter this "debate" for two reasons:
1. The hit was in the "target area". He basically hit him on his ass/lower back. I'm sure there are some QBs who get these calls, but if it were to the head or legs, I would bet he gets the call. If that hit is 0.5 seconds sooner, it's as clean as a whistle.
2. I frankly think these hits should be legal, so it would be kind of hypocritical for me to complain about it. That guy is going to risk injury to himself by trying to pull up from not hitting him.

I understand why people should think its a penalty, and it probably is. I'm just not getting my panties in a bunch over it, because I think it shouldn't be. And I think a lot of Ravens fans would have a problem with a flag being thrown on Oweh who makes a hit like this.

I dnt care if a team call a TO to score one more td vs us when the game is clearly over. however… im sure if roles were reversed yesterday, yall would be tripping out on broncos for running a play to get that record..
You planning to participate in the fantasy league this year?

Most coaches are mad about losing.

Vic fangio is mad the ravens didn’t give him mercy for five yards to break an all time record.

seriously, that speaks volumes about him as a coach and even more as a man. How are you an old school defensive minded coach, talking this shit? Holy fuck I hope fangio is out of the league in a year, what a pathetic bitch.

I absolutely would not be crying about it, nor have I ever in these situations. It's not like he was throwing a bomb or running for a TD, he just ran 5 yards to tie a record and put us into position of breaking it on Monday night. A record that most likely will never be broken.

I give Roman 70% credit due to him calling the plays and Martin and Dubb the rest of the credit for working with the receivers and designing plays that work in modern NFL. Now, I also wonder if Urban has anything to do with it also.

it was way too late - the guy could have pulled up - we ask defensive players to do so much for the QBs in terms of safety and this guy doesn't change anything at all despite having time to

half a second is a long time in the NFL when the ball is often coming out fast - you're right that half a second earlier and it's a clean hit - but it wasnt - it was unnecessary and late and hit Lamar in the back where he's been hurting all week

but more was throwing it up as an example of lamar not getting a call that other QBs get - and it mirrors the treatment that Cam Newton used to get in the pocket from refs too

tbf we dont know that martin or dubb have any play-design responsibility but either way part of the problem last year especially late in the year was that even if the concept was good, guys were executing in ways that were making the concepts not work...

even if it's just Tee and Dubb emphasising the roles of guys on specific combos to create space for each other and executing their roles better then that's clearly going to help

Right but for me, this isn't an example of that. It's an example of probably just a missed call, like there were several yesterday. I think the Cam comparables are generally for hits to the head or legs, which running QBs especially, never get called for low hits to the QB in the pocket. And I agree that's unfair.

I never cared one bit about what Denver or their fans thought about it. Their opinions are irrelevant.
They were who I thought they were. Good defense, probably didn't play as well as I expected in the secondary, better than I expected in stopping the run, and very below average offensively. They, like many teams, have a QB problem. Bridgewater will look fine when you play three of the worst teams (and worst defenses) in the league. I'm sure they'd be a little better with Jeudy out there, but I can't see how it makes a difference in this game.
My question going into the game was how was Denver going to score the 20+ points needed to win this game, and how were they going to do it in most of the remaining games they have, when they don't have winless teams to beat up on defensively and dominate field position, time of possession, etc.
They did nothing to change my thought process yesterday.
I'm sure there's Broncos fans thinking it would be a different game with Teddy out there. I look at their first half and I don't see it. Punted on 5 of 6 possessions. Didn't have a single drive of longer than 5 plays. 117 yards of offense. 7 points.

talking about stuff as if we have some notable awful player safety record or something... wtf is he referring to? or is he just being salty as fuck for no reason?

He’s embarrassing. If the Broncos FO and players aren’t completely embarrassed about this, then they need a nut check

A few things I've noticed so far related to these points
  1. Deshon Elliot's probably the best tackler in the secondary and we've missed him setting the tone etc. on the backend when he's been out
  2. Tavon's not playing like he did when he got the deal but he's settling in and improving week-to-week which you'd expect after he basically missed 2 years of football
  3. I hate watching LBs lol (my least favourite position to watch) but might have to watch PQ this week on the coaches film - i really didnt see much that made me think he was a liability yesterday - yes he's not a good tackler and he struggles to get off square blocks but i watching live i didnt think he was bad at all
  4. Chuck Clark has been awesome through 4 games

It's obvious an unsurprising that Deshon is better than Stephens. So when he gets back that's an upgrade. We still struggle even with him though to stop deep balls.

Tavon, I agree with you. He got toasted in the Raiders game and he's not been nearly as bad in any other game. Hopefully he continues to improve.

PQ has been not great, but I'm also not seeing why people are calling for his head. He'll pick it back up.

The question is are we able to just put it together to make a run?

and more to the point Tavon had tough matchups through those first 2 weeks - he had Waller and Renfrow at times who are 2 very different types of receivers and no one's been able to deal with them this season so far

he was lucky that hamler and jeudy were out for the broncos because they would have been more challenging matchups for him than the guys that were out there instead

what is this clown talking about?!? Holy shit he’s a sore loser. Someone should ask him if he knows what year it is.

I completely disagree. I want the Broncos to extend him for another 10+ years. He's my dream coach - for them.
