The NFLPA can say that all they want but the chances of Lamar getting a fully guaranteed contract from the Ravens are slim and none, and none left town.
Well, it was the NFLPA (as you know-they rep the players) that told Lamar and his camp that he was not out of bounds to ask for what he has. Whether or not he receives it? Well, that's what negotiations are for and HOPEFULLY, the Ravens and Lamar can come to terms to continue their partnership so to speak.

Has nothing to do with Lamar, didn’t even know he was a fan. I have never liked Clark.
And by the way, the Joe thing is really old and stale. lol
Totally something an apologist would say

I truly think if Lamar had an agent a deal would have been done long ago and he’d be paid top 5 money.

Perhaps, but I like what Roquan said when he was asked about "not" having an agent; "Players want to be at the table for full disclosure." Apart from all of the hugs, the laughs, and the "I love you's" etc; Lamar has heard how the Raven's top brass "really feel" about his worth to this franchise during the negotiations so far and it put a dent in his spirit. We all saw it on the sidelines. He was a different person than in previous years perhaps it was getting bit by the "business" side of the NFL which can be (at times) ruthless and cutthroat to players.

Yeah I agree he was different, it probably hurt his play, and I think it was because he was thinking about the contract, which is what agents do.

Ro is a completely different case, different dude, different situation. And you also heard him complement EDC and what a pleasure it was to do business with him.

That's why i mostly ignore it. None of us know what the actual numbers are.

And the NFLPA is terrible. Has to be the worst of all the major sports.
They are basically using poor Lamar as bait meat to the shark owners to make sure the other players that follow get guaranteed deals. I'm not saying Lamar shouldn't get it, but the NFLPA is using him for their own selfish ends.

I get the whole "having an agent" thing. I really do. That doesn't mean that you "have to have" an agent to get a deal that is fair to you for your services. And although Roquan's situation was different, the principle of negotiating contracts (what you feel you are truly worth with those who don't feel that you are worth that amount) remains the same. And of course, Roquan praised EDC cause he just got paid! What else was going to say? But as you mentioned, he's an LB, and Lamar is the starting QB and has been "the face" of your franchise for the past few seasons; a completely different case, different dude, different situation.

Back when this was first reported, $133M figure was "fully guaranteed at signing and somewhere between $160-$180M total guarantees".

It sounded like it might be true but we'll never know, I guess.

If true, that number was absolutely disrespectful, having in mind that it was obviously based on a deal Cardinals gave to petulant child who can't be bothered to study his playbook and has not accomplished anything up to that point.

Not to mention even bigger deal given to washed up Wilson and abomination that happened in CLE.
I posted this on Reddit, but here we go again...

The most important number is the guaranteed AT SIGNING, not the total guarantees. The total guarantees are a really great fluff number for the Ravens to puff their chest on and say, "See, we offered a lot of money!" But the truth is, we have zero idea how the contract was structured. It very well could have been one of those "if you're on the team on the fifth day of the league year, it becomes guaranteed" deals where the team almost assuredly cuts your ass to avoid paying that money. Without knowing the structure, we just simply don't know how good the deal was for Lamar and how likely he was to see the entirety of the guaranteed money.

Take Tyreek Hill's deal as an example of why reported numbers don't matter.

Tyreek Hill signed for four years and $120M. That's crazy money. However, he's out of guaranteed money after this year, bringing the total to $75M total earned. In the final year of his deal, he's due $45M and the Dolphins save that much by cutting him. Who here thinks Hill is staying on the Dolphins with a $50M cap hit and earning that $45M? He's 100% going to be extended or outright cut because the Dolphins are 100% not paying that $45M.

Again, on paper, $120M is a TON, but he won't sniff that. Similarly, $180M guaranteed is great and all, but without knowing the structure, it's simply a fluff number to get people behind the Ravens.

And for what it's worth- I think contracts should be fully guaranteed for everyone, even if it would require an adjustment on salaries overall. Billionaire owners are profiting off of these players putting their bodies and brains on the line every game. Given they'll cut a player to save a dime without a moments notice, players should absolutely milk the organization for every penny they can get.
