Training Camp and the Preseason

It looks like the Ravens offered Josh Johnson a contract but he turned it down. I understand you want to compete for a starting job and at least jump on as a backup somewhere and that will probably not be here when RG3 comes back but why not earn some money and try to show teams, “you still got it” during the preseason? I just think, sitting back and waiting for another team to call, could backfire. I guess he has to make his own decision on what is best for himself, so I won’t fault him too much.

Brown will really be a weapon in the middle of the field....much more than some people think. He will get so much cushion from a safety that has an underneath (LB) bracket. His running intermediate middle of the field routes should be very effective one way or another against any sort of zone. If you bracket him underneath with a safety over the top there should be all sorts of room underneath for someone else....if you run a back or tight end at an LB and make him decide...Brown might just sit down.

Not to mention Brown might just beat the safety deep or run a deep cross and sit. With him occupying a middle of the field safety it should open up seams for Hurst or Andrews. I look for those two up the seam to be a big part of our attack. Even during Flacco, last year..Andrews was frequently open on inside verticals.

Idk about that.. i mean numbers may say so but on the field is different

Purely talking relative to the combine. Megatron was bigger and Julio was more polished coming out. Julio, although more comparable in size) also has a top end gear that Miles doesn’t appear to have. However, still an absolute robbery in the 3rd round (if it translates to the real games).

Let’s not undersell Brown’s route-running. If he can keep his body right he could devastate every route on the tree.

Maybe he doesn’t wanna deal with training camp lol

There is so much more to route running than just being able to run every route on the tree. It's a bit like us saying a pianist knows how to play every note.

Hollywood has passed his physical - could get our first look as soon as tomorrow - probably too late to come back to see him in preseason game 1 just because of the lack of control we have over the joint practices next week and the fact that the game is not on a sunday and the fact that theres no need to rush him into an uncontrolled situation

but this is also hella exciting

Anyone can run any route, and hell most people in the nfl can run one sharply and quickly enough with some simple effort, real quality route running comes from understanding coverages and how to influence and manipulate them before you set up your break.

No need to rush at all. Honestly with Boykin looking so good, he probably looking at not starting so there is no need to rush him back. He can take his time and just recover to 100 percent

best thing about having Brown back at practice is the developing chemistry with LJ.

Supposedly Powers was being manhandled today and was replaced by London. Also Hill was running go routes with Brown.
