lol at those calling the season over already haha put your natural light down bud.
Ugly game for sure, the Browns were 1-2 but simply played harder than us today and look to have more talent and like they could easily win this division.
Our defense is way better than this, the only logical explanation is that our defense has played tired, lazy, worst in the NFL defense, which is unusual for us but has happened 3 weeks in a row. But that is what you get when you draft offense instead of defense and refuse to add more players on defense other than Earl Thomas...especially after we lost a lot of good defensive players in free agency.
This defense has no identity, and even a fake one at times with Pernell McPhee acting like he is Ray Lewis or Ed Reed. For the first time in franchise history this defense is without a clear cut leader, it certainly is not and never will be McPhee.
Kyler Murray- 349yds
Pat Mahomes- 374yds
Baker & Chubb- 500+yds
No pass rushers, weak DBs which makes for unstoppable offenses clearly proven today given we could not stop the Brown's offense.
UNACCEPTABLE
Penalties, dropped balls CATCHABLE BALLS. Multiple costly turnovers. Shotgun draw on 3rd and 6?!?! Marty is that you?!?! That is a Marty Morenenehig special the shotgun draw on 2nd or 3rd and long. That's like saying "nope we won't get a first down passing" Not even going to try? Horrible play call, and poor play calling all game not taking any deep shots all game. No pass attempts to Hayden Hurst all game until garbage time...so much for that 1st round pick.
No pass rush whatsoever, meanwhile our defense got to watch the Browns feast on Lamar Jackson all day. The Offensive line has struggled, and where most savvy QBs know how to best take advantage of constant pressure and blitzes Lamar is clearly not ready to run the offense, he doesnt know how to pick up blitzes, have not heard him audible at the line ever, and why not implement some hurry up offense into what could be a much more dangerous offense.
Lamar Jackson has got to find a way to become a Mastermind behind the line of scrimmage become a student of the game and really do everything in his power to become the best passer he can be. He clearly lacks talent as a pocket passer...same as Vick, Cam Newton, Kaepernick, RG3 and others who are always a threat to move the ball with their legs, which makes for an exciting offense but ultimately they are not capable when it matters to move the ball through the air.
I'm all for giving Lamar a chance to develop but it just feels like he is a player who has a short ceiling when it comes to passing the ball. As hard as he may work and try to be a great passer and say things like he wants to throw the ball 30-40 times per game and that he prefers passing the ball to running it all the things you want to hear. Maybe it was the offensive lines fault, or the receivers for dropped passes...but sooner or later we have to start passing the ball better, take shots down field, the Browns knew we wouldn't, challenged us to do so with their defenders playing well off the ball and they were right because we could not pass the ball.
Our season is not over yet, we just need to make an effort to improve and up the effort level. Would be nice to see us make a trade or sign a veteran to add a spark to an otherwise culturally insufficient Ravens team. No identity no swag, no ball so hard U.
