they're only paying like 700k of his contract - broncos are paying 9 of the remaining 9.7m

that's partly why he's costing such a high price despite being a rental
I wouldn’t like giving up 2 day 2 picks, but von Miller this year for 700k… that could be the difference. Now with our OL and run game it’s hard to feel confident in that, but still

And somehow, some way, they’re contending every goddamn year

tbf those moves have netted them some superstars and their 2014 draft pick in aaron donald is the best non-qb in the league...

but also they dont have much cap space in 2022 and they dont have any picks in 2022 - if they're able to contend beyond 2022 then their coaching staff and front office are geniuses

tbf to them though - looking at their non-aaron donald 1st round picks maybe they're better off using them on established stars...

Nobody held him back, beating the tackle and getting sacks is entirely on him.

for sure that's part of it - i think there's 2 things that are relevant to low individual sack numbers for ravens edge guys since wink took over:

1) because of the blitz and deception, the ball comes out quicker vs this defence which means that edge guys have much less time to close and finish to turn those pressures into sacks
2) yannick ngakoue talked about the inability to get into a rhythm as a pass rusher because you're being asked to do multiple things like stunts or drop into coverage and also because we do a ton of rotation at the position

it's notable that while judon's still dropping into coverage as a patriot, the patriots are blitzing only 20% of the time and judon's playing more snaps than he did as a raven (even though he led the ravens in snaps at that position for basically his last 3 years on the team)

Has to be something were asking our guys to do that's limiting them. Maybe alignments or other requirements of the scheme. No way Smith and Judon leave then just immediately improve.

The NFC West is just
the rams have 3 picks in 2022... a 5th and 2 7ths...

they also havent made a 1st round pick since jared goff in 2016 and wont again until at least 2024

they're literally as all-in as you can get

You know that 2024 1st Round Pick is going to be traded for someone in the offseason, along with their 2025 1st round pick, etc.
