The Andy Reid, The Coaching and The Everything Else

Just from a competitive standpoint, I really, really, REALLY did not want Lamar to say this about an opponent.
It's not encouraging. I mean that's gonna be in their heads if they do meet again and it will be all over the news feeds until then.

That said, maybe it will feed the coaching staff a nice slide of humble pie. They need to fix some things.

Nice little wake up call for the Ravens. We needed this honestly. We weren’t going undefeated. Look at the rest of our schedule though. Only teams that seem threatening are the Cowboys, Titans and Steelers twice. Put a gun to my head and I’m saying 12-4. We really need a pass rush though and at least one more weapon on the outside for Lamar because this horizontal west coast shit ain’t working unless Duv becomes that weapon. Officially done with Boykin

Lamar might be realizing the FO has ZERO clue how to build around a QB. Lamar is better than Flacco is so many ways, but I can't take anyone seriously who can't admit Flacco never got much help from the FO - the two years he had the most help were 2012 and 2014. His two best years coincidentally, one with a ring.

Roman is good for the pistol read option stuff but do we have the coaching to help Lamar develop as a passer? And will our FO draft with the intention of building around Lamar? And will they actually draft well?

Lamar has so much potential. I pray we don't waste it.

I don't think it's primetime that affects our play it's the importance of the game. This was a big game in the teams head that they had to win to prove to the naysayers we could, it would have had the build up of a play off game and wilted under the pressure. They really need to address the mental sides of things, Lamar looked like he was having Bradyesque tantrums out there.

we dominated against teams that may turn out decent but arent challenging for superbowls

tonight we found out that coasting to wins against ok teams means absolutely nothing when you play against the superpowers of the NFL

at least now they know what the level is to win a superbowl - we need to find a way to beat KC or we might as well pack up and wait for next year because i dont see a world where KC arent in the AFC Championship game at least which means the road to the superbowl will run through them

We'll recover as we got the dreaded NFC East, and as long as we don't lay an egg against Pittsburgh we can still win the division. It's just that we need to get over that hump known as the Chiefs. I hope this game was our 2011 AFC Title Game loss and we come out the rest of the season balling. Then we head to KC in January and finally beat our demons like we did in 2012 against the Patriots.

4th quarter it looked like he melted down - he even looked like he was still moving when the snap happened a couple of times too almost like he was pacing in anger while still playing

We are looking like flat track bullys at the moment. I'm sure a cricket analogy is going to confuse many here lol

i think 2014 was his best year of quarterbacking - but he was not a comeback specialist in that part of his career at all
2014 he didn't have a comeback of note, he did help rally to beat the Browns and get into the playoffs and had really great performances against the Steelers in the wildcard and the Patriots except for that last INT. Still pissed about that one lol

he was never like Big Ben or Aaron Rodgers levels of comeback ability but I think his clutch factor was underrated. He often helped to win close games during the 2009-2012 stretch where the difference in the game was often 2-3 key throws. I went to every home game in 2010 and 2011. Joe wasn't a world beater and suffered from some definite limitations but the dude didn't flinch and I could easily comprise a long list of clutch plays and games from that time span.

My point is Lamar is almost in every way the superior of Flacco , but seems to so far beat up average and weak teams while struggling against the best.

Flacco always played his best against the best. It's why I liked him.
Of course, than he always played his worst against bottom feeders like Jacksonville... *shudders in 2016 London game*

yeah the idea that lamar crumbles in primetime is recency bias - until tonight he was 4-0 in primetime - its just that the last 2 times hes been on the national stage we've shit the bed

the other defensive positive is that unless i missed it, i dont think anthony averett got beaten up at all which is a promising sign moving forwards

we cant let this game beat us twice - we take the loss and we take the lessons from it and we make sure we dont repeat them - the reason this loss annoys me so much is because many of the problems again seem self-inflicted and repeated from that Titans game

it felt like we made the same mistake twice and that's unacceptable - making mistakes generally is inevitable but repeating them is not
HOLY. SHIT. I totally forgot about Averett. This could be a huge confidence booster for him going forward. Going into this year, the coaching staff made it clear that we were planning on using all four backs and have Lamar run less. Um....yeah about that. And again, abandoning the run when we were down 13-10.

Man as much as I hate to say it, Lamar's kinda right. Not to mention Lamar pretty much always speaks his mind
It's not that he's wrong, but I don't want him giving them even more of a mental advantage over him.

Well we were never going 16-0 and this was the most likely one that we lost, but man the way in which we were out coached and out played is painful.

I think it’s an unfair assessment to say Lamar only beats bottom dwelling teams. Look at last year. He made enough clutch plays to beat the NFC champs and countless other powerhouses. Harbaugh and company need to get their heads out of their asses and stop trying to get cute by turning Lamar into some prolific passer. Play to your strengths and run the ball and control the TOP. I hope one of our beat writers asks Harbs why we abandoned the run only down 3. I want an answer

i just dont agree with this at all - joe notoriously didnt perform against the best except in that playoff run - we didnt beat a non-division playoff level team (even in the regular season) once after the superbowl

lamar has been great against the best teams in the league except kansas city

abandoning the run was unforgivable - we were going at 10 yards a clip but forgot about it

Thing about Ben is that he's often the one who digs the holes that he then pulls his team out of. Rodgers is another level, but Flacco definetly had some games that should have been legendary combacks. Lee Evans, you gotta make that catch.
