Offensive Coordinator Thread

Back to making throws no one else in lg can make? flacco has never in his life but that good to the point where only he can make certain throws.

um what are you talking about - joe has the ability to make throws that very few qbs have a chance of making because of his arm and the pace which his delivery generates - he doesnt do it often and that's part of the problem but he can fit throws into windows other qbs cant and i saw at least 2/3 throws against the browns that were vintage good joe throws with so much zip - the only guys in the league who have a chance to make those throws are matthew stafford and cam newton (again they dont do it all the time either)

i mean he went over to DEN and had a terrible offense and also drafted tebow.

and then he went to new england and that offence took off and brady has never looked better (or is that all entirely on brady?)... why should mcdaniels have to prove anything? he's gonna get head coaching job interviews every year until he takes one - and ironically his best shot is gonna be when/if the pats are ever out earlier in the playoffs - our only hope to get mcdaniels at OC is if he takes a HC job and has an historically awful time and then we pick him up at his low point...

Some of you won’t like what I’m about to say but with this offense reemergence I don’t see Marty leaving we need to keep Joe in the same system for once I think that’s why Marty was back this year and I also don’t see us moving on from Joe anytime soon unless he declines it’s quite obvious he was dealing with a much worse back injury than any of us thought the way he’s playing now is just different and I think everyone in this orginaztion knows that I just don’t see all these major changes anytime soon but maybe I’m not seeing something

I think this will be the first offseason we see the FO build around Joe and use the next 3-4 years to compete with a young D and O but maybe that’s just me

you know what, as long as we keep greg roman im not too worried as long as marty knows he's on a hot seat and doesnt get complacent and go back to some of the playcalling we saw pre-bye - yes a lot of this offensive improvement is on flacco but a lot of it is on better playcalling too - we cant afford to go back to the playcalling and play designs from the beginning of the year, and we cant afford to see joe get nervous and mentally inhibited again - if marty's back so be it, as long as greg roman remains im kind of okay with it

i realise that's a departure from what i was saying earlier in the year and im also not entirely comfortable with marty still but if we make a run then ill be willing to buy that this offence has turned a corner

Yeah I was saying early on that I thought the conservative play calling had a lot to do with the O line injury issues and Joe’s back as they wanted to minimize the chances of contact. As the O line improved along with the emergence of Alex Collins they were able to open up the playbook a bit more and be more productive. Obviously Joe’s health improved as well.

I really like the thought of gaining some consistency in system/game planning and that they will build around Joe with some young and capable receiving talent.

If this offense continues to play as well as it has then I don't think it makes sense to fired Marty Mornhinweg even if The Ravens decided to promote Greg Roman to offensive coordinator. I think it's important The Ravens keep this offensive system in place next season.

Hopefully they find this talent somewhere because I have not seen it on the Ravens pretty much ever.

Lol with our luck someone will hire Marty as a HC or something and we still won’t have any OC consistency. It seems impossible at this point

i dont think marty is a bad OC. I believe there is some out there better but i never discredited him. I feel like it was just terrible play by flacco

Greg Roman has a better chance at a hc position and he would be the bigger loss if you ask me.

I know it’s highly unlikely Marty becomes a HC from here on out. I was just making a joke because it’s so difficult for us to find consistency at the OC spot, and now that Marty is finally competent it would be our luck for something to go wrong.
