Jimmy Smith

Yes but we should title it why he should play SS. In fact I’m writing an article about it ;)
I kinda like him in coverage on the outside though. Especially in our scheme. It doesnt ask our corners to play the ball deep down the feild. If he is in a position to play the ball its in a shallow zone and thats where hes at his best. Im not sure id like Humphrey at SS when hes playing exceptionally well as an outside corner

He's being facetious because of a certain poster we have on here.

haha he's pulling your leg dude and mocking a couple of the infamous posters here (or at least i hope he is because otherwise im going to vehemently disagree with him)

So, Reddit made a Jimmy Smith thread, too, and this was posted...

PFF signature stats

288 snaps in coverage

34 targets (17th), 17 receptions (5th), 153 yards (2nd), 61 YAC (14th), 0 TDs (1st), 3 INTs (2nd)

25.7 passer rating when targeted* (1st), 8.5 cover snaps/targets (13th), 0.53 yards/cover snap (2nd), 16.9 cover snaps/reception (10th)

  • No cornerback has ever allowed a passer rating below 30 for an entire season in the PFF era (2006- Present).

That last comment includes the great 2009 season for Darrell Revis.

2009 was an absurd season by every stretch of the imagination. How that season even happened... I mean, my word...

If Jimmy can even be in the same discussion as that season, I'll consider it a huge win.

I dont wanna downplay Jimmy, but what Revis did will always be in a league of its just because of how he played. He took the best offensive weapon on every team he played (considered in several cases some of the top WRs in the league) and shut them down and made them look not only ordinary but bad, they looked like a 2nd string WR when he covered them.

That’s pretty much what jimmy is doing, but he doesn’t follow the receiver around the field.

The future is beginning to look bright for the ravens. Our CB group next year will be unreal. We may not even have to keep Carr although i wouldnt mind having him around.

if we dont retain carr we'll need to find another outside corner to become the 4th corner but otherwise our team will be stacked:

Jimmy (RCB)
Marlon (LCB)
Tavon (slot)
Canady (#1 backup at all 3 spots)
Jaylen Hill (backup slot)

Webby (emergency corner)

if we dont retain carr then we have to find another outside corner but if we keep him we have the most extraordinary db depth ive ever seen - we could legit be 2 deep in starter quality nickel package corners
