I actually think Bailey's 2006 season was better. He got an int something like 1 in every 3 targets and didnt let up a td.

Ps this is based of stats. I have little to no memory of the 06 season apart from our own

Somewhere I was reading said he was targeted 35 times, allowed 4 catches, and had 10 interceptions. Not sure how accurate that source was but Champ Bailey was definitely one of the best we will ever see.

I'm not sure how many yards were allowed on those four catches but it is safe to say that it didn't total as many as his interception return yards (162) and he had 2 touchdowns off of turnovers.
 
That’s pretty much what jimmy is doing, but he doesn’t follow the receiver around the field.

You can put your number 1 on the other side though. Revis followed players who in theory are equal in talent and,made them look like nothing.

Jimmy shutting down an entire side of the feild is amazing but what Revis did should not have been possible.

Yet Bailey always had WR that would consistently burn him. Bailey was great with both the Skins and the Broncos and I agree, he was a fantastic CB.

something that always gets lost in the mix of the whole "shadow cb" comparisons is this...

not all cbs are capable of changing sides of the field without a noticeable drop off in performance, its pretty common that the average #2 isnt capable of it.

so you cant ask your #1 to shadow if your 2 isnt capable of changing sides, it will make your cb2 a bigger liability. considering the corner depth weve had for jimmys whole career, the last thing id want is our cb2 having an even harder job. cant fault jimmy for not shadowing, because he has done it before and its always been the same theme, jimmy shuts down and the cb2 gives up burn all day.

That's a great game for Canady to not be thrown at with that many defensive snaps, but he was very lucky to be bailed out by Jimmy's INT on the first drive. When Cobb motioned left from the bunch, Canady should have followed him, but was late. Hundley saw it and floated a pass to what would have been an open spot, but Jimmy read him early and drifted back for the INT.

Yep, I noticed that as well. Glad jimmy was reading Hundleys eyes.
 
if you didnt already know that jimmy was having an incredible season, the fact that after 12 weeks ike taylor literally cant avoid having him at #2 on his cb rankings at worst is incredible - coz you know ike is gonna find any reason possible not to have a ravens cb on that list let alone top 2 - if jimmy shuts hopkins down this week he may even end up number 1 on that list...

The reasom why we probably dont allow jimmy to shawdow is cause of drop off in performance like you said, so therefore it is his fault.
