2022 General Draft Thoughts

Oh. Hey there bby..

that euro step pass rush looks sexy af

i really liked a move i saw a couple of times from him where he transitions from a push-pull into a dip and rip around the outside shoulder

the play that happens at around 11 seconds in this clip:

there's other clips of that move but i cant seem to find any others right now - also great with his inside spin move and then showed off this masterful inside-out spin as a changeup in the georgia game:

First off, quit sweating me for posting too many of these, I know. secondly, here’s another one that is perfect

the ceiling on that draft would be wild - but all 3 of those first 3 picks are raw in some ways - 2 of them are fairly new to the sport and the 3rd is an unrefined bull in a china shop

would be a very exciting first 3 picks - but also somewhat risky

Since we have had some good position coaches I kinda wish we'd roll the dice on those kind of players more often. Trying to find total package guys instead of looking for specific traits is how you end up with players like Jaylon Ferguson.

oh for sure - just with those first 2 guys especially it's not just that you're rolling the dice on traits it's that they're genuinely newer to the sport

that being said i think oweh last year shows you that traits are far more important than production when scouting and that maybe the ravens arent so worried about all-around players and are more concerned with what prospects can do than what they cant do

If Ojabo is bpa when we are on the boards, I'm hoping the Ravens draft him, but are concerned they would stay away due to him being bad against the run.

i think that would be a mistake tbh if he's BPA - to me he's more raw against the run than anything - he demonstrates at times the ability to play vs the run just really inconsistent and unreliable (which is why he didnt play the whole game vs georgia because they couldnt trust him to hold up as a run defender)

but i wouldnt put him in the same boat as ebiketie who i think is also a great pass rusher but a liability as a run defender as anything other than a penetrator - with ebekitie i just dont see much upside as a run defender whereas with ojabo i do

Not only that, MacDonald knows his strengths and weaknesses especially after working with him for over a year. He also saw firsts hand how Jordan Davis destroyed Michigan so he may want to go that route also, if available.

P.S. not sure if it's Macdonald or MacDonald..would think the latter although I've seen it written both ways

all the stuff on the ravens official twitter and website has him as Mike Macdonald

So, while we have bigger holes, I do really like the idea of grabbing Tariq Woolen with our 2nd round pick. He may be raw but he has some insane physical tools to work with, and would be a long term investment that allows us to possibly drop Jimmy Smith. Also, this draft has some real gems at OT in the mid rounds.

havent got round to him but rasheed walker is definitely someone im interested in
another guy ive heard exciting things about who ive not seen anyone talk about really yet is tyler smith from tulsa

i think this OL class is pretty stacked as you say - so far the 2 highest graded guys on my board are tackles and ive also got more tackles on my board so far than any other position too

A few thoughts at this point =>

1) There is a bunch of high end EDGE/DL talent early in the 1st (Hutchinson, Thibodeaux, Walker, Davis, Ojabo, Karlaftis). It's likely that at least one of these guys is still there by 14, currently Ojabo is my favourite 'has a decent chance of being available' prospect.

2) I'm not feeling Charles Cross at 14.

3) I'd be happy with Evan Neal or Ikem Ekwonu at 14, but wouldn't be too sour if we miss them, it seems to be a really deep draft for tackles with all sorts of interesting players around the 2nd, 3rd and maybe 4th.

4) A sneaky feeling Kyle Hamilton might drop to us.

i think those are all pretty fair thoughts - i think with charles cross it's about fit for me rather than anything else - if we were in dire need of a LT because we know ronnie's not back 100% he'd be much higher on my wish list

i go both ways on hamilton's availability - he's a safety which devalues him and as versatile as he is, his strength is not man covering shifty slot guys and the NFL values that in their safeties nowadays - so i could certainly see him drop a bit - then again this seems like a fairly weak top of the draft and he's the only thing close to a unicorn-type talent in the class (the closest thing to a micah parsons-esque prospect) and obviously that kind of player comes at a premium and may go high

ekwonu is number 1 on my wish list and i dont see that changing tbh but i also dont think he's making it out of the top 7

there's a lot of edge guys at the top but im really struggling with my grades on all of them - they're all flawed in various ways for guys you'd think about taking high - karlaftis im still unsure of what i think of him

One of my favourite mocks I've had so far

14th Travon Walker Edge/DL Georgia
45th Daniel Faalele OT Minnesota
76th Kyler Gordon CB Washington
98th Cade Otton TE Washington
106th Damarri Mathis S Pittsburgh
115th Alec Lindstron IOL Boston College
124th Matthew Butler IDL Tennessee
136th Brian Asamoah LB Oklahoma
138th Rachaad White RB Arizona State
195th Jeffrey Gunter Edge Coastal Carolina
