Davesta
Ravens Ring of Honor
It was just a jersey swap I saw. Only one of him in a ravens jersey. The number is irrelevant lol
So we know davis isnt even close to being a good pass rusher so is it just his physical attributes that we would banking on? Or is it that his run stuffing ability just makes him a safe pick? The closer we get to the draft, im doing 2 things with my grading simultaneously
1) watching new prospects - ive been a bit slow this year so still have absolutely tons of guys to get to
2) solidifying how i feel about the top 14 (and more importantly... are there 14 guys id want at 14)
the 2nd point is a little complicated because to me there's 11 guys i feel really strongly about (that's been listed over and over) but it's highly possible or even probably that they may all be gone by the time we pick - so the challenge the last week or so was about whether i can find a level of comfort with any of the next guys that i feel confident in them at 14
and there's 2 guys at this point that id be really happy if we brought them to the ravens at 14 who arent in that initial 11
Andrew Booth
Jordan Davis
that's right ive finally got to a point of comfort with Davis that im on the train properly now lol
i am basically 100% confident that 1 of those 13 prospects will be there at 14 because it only takes 1 QB or 1 non-drake london WR to have a guy i really like available at 14
it's not that im giving these 2 guys a bigger grade than they had, it's more that im comfortable with the grade and the fit as the next guys in the next tier
I think he'll be a better pass rusher in the NFL than he was in college. The man was being regularly triple teamed to stop him. You can't do that in the NFL without other players making you pay for it. And he destroys the pocket. Even if he's not getting home QBs cannot step up to avoid the edge rushers. It won't show up on stat sheets, but he'll make a big impact on passing downs. This isn't Brandon Williams we're talking about. So we know davis isnt even close to being a good pass rusher so is it just his physical attributes that we would banking on? Or is it that his run stuffing ability just makes him a safe pick?

I dnt think its enough tape to prove he is a good pass rusher tbh.. he wasnt only playing limited downs because of rotation, its cause they simply felt like he wasnt worthy of it.. also, he admitted to conditioning problems. Im not saying he isnt gonna be good but i feel like the obvious should be stated with this guy..it's a combination - we've seen flashes of dominance in the passing game from davis... just so irregularly was on the field on passing downs because of the scheme and the rotation that georgia used
put him out at 2i or 3 on passing downs and let him attack a guard or the b-gap and just collapse it
you cannot leave him single-blocked and that changes the maths for the offence - that's how physically and athletically dominant he is - he's one swipe move or push-pull move away from being and absolute nightmare in the passing game
and then on top of that potential, you have a guy who can take on triple teams and win - there's even a clip of him going around atm taking on 4 OL on short yardage... and winning
so to answer your question more directly... it's both of those things - you're banking on the upside but with enough tape of him being destructive to give you lots of excitement about that development, while also knowing you've got one of the most dominant run defenders in the NFL the moment he gets to your team

Im saying he wasnt worthy because its obvious if he only played 40% of snaps..So its either you werent conditioned all year or your team just feel like you are basically useless on passing downs..where have you seen any evidence or statement about they taking him off the field because he wasn't worthy?
the conditioning is the 1 big question for me too - but he's also dropped weight since college and was in peak physical condition at the combine when he set all these combine records - if he can be helped to stay in shape then he's going to be absolutely fine
but that's more the reason why he was rotated out... because of conditioning, not because of impact
and georgia's rotation was not exclusive to jordan davis either - literally all of their front 7 rotated all the time - no one ever played a full complement of snaps because they've got a million 4* and 5* guys all over that front and sometimes they wanted to put 3 LBs on the field too which took DL off as well

he's my top edge in this class.Watching Kayvon more and more makes me want to see us be aggressive and move up for him. I would legit part with a future 1st for him. 2nd round pick is no question. Dude is ultra talented and I don’t understand the noise around him. Has to be smokescreen.

can't get better at 2nd round picks if you don't draft with them. We have used them for value recently with Lamar in 2018 and 19 and 21 for Oweh. In between we did pick JK Dobbins in the 2nd for EDC's sold 2nd round pick.i definitely understand those who have other guys rated above him - not gonna go crazy and say he's undoubtedly the clear and obvious number 1 player in the draft - i dont have questions about his effort or iq but i do have some questions about hip tightness and flexibility that mean that if a team had him like 7th or 8th on their board id understand... but for him to drop out of the top 10 would be ridiculous
that being said - the only reason id feel good about giving up a 2nd for him is purely about the superstition related to us sucking at 2nd round picks lol - in value terms ill be pissed if we have to give up more than a 3 to go get him

Amazing how bad we are at 2nd round picks, considering our hit rate with 5th and 6th rounders.
Your best scenario mocks are looking a lot like mine lol
Well the thing is we don’t know that he isn’t even close to being a good pass rusher. So we know davis isnt even close to being a good pass rusher so is it just his physical attributes that we would banking on? Or is it that his run stuffing ability just makes him a safe pick?
Yeah it was looking pretty nice Until the 4th round And then it went straight to an a+this legitimately might be the perfect draft lol
wtf is mathis doing in the 4th round hahaha
