My money in the bank that Tyus Bowser breaks out.Was going to say. CJ and Weddle are two of the smartest respective defensive players in the league. I trust the defense going forward.
We need Tim Williams to break out though.

Weddle said that new DC Wink Martindale is “bringing a lot of elements that we haven’t had. ... We’re changing a lot of stuff.” Weddle said Players have more responsibility in Martindale’s defense.
Further confirms what I thought: Wink is not going to be Pees 2.0. Obviously, this season has to play itself out, but I'm looking forward to see how our defense looks with a different play-caller at the helm.Per a dude on twitter:
Weddle’s comments about not having the flexibility on D last year to switch responsibilities with another player based on that they saw from the offense were interesting. Also said they will not be as ‘black & white’ this year on D.
At least Wink's defense should be taking the approach of "playing to win" instead of "playing not to lose" like Pees' defense did so many times in the 4th quarter. That alone gets me excited to see Wink's version of this defense in action.
A defense that lets Bowser play in space and rely on his instincts is perfect for him. He'll fit Wink's defense well.My money in the bank that Tyus Bowser breaks out.
If he picks up where he left off, we're looking at double digit sacks.I have big hopes for judon. We can easily see a big jump in his sack total this season. Im thinking atleast 9+ sacks this season but wouldnt be surprised if he got around 14.
I wouldn't call Pees' scheme anything near basics but even if that was the case, what example do you have of them not executing well? They had trouble doing the basics and now are getting more freedom and responsibilities.
Sure why not.....

What basics did they struggle with?
There weren't many basics to execute in pees scheme, unless you're referring to simple run stopping and gap integrity, which he would often ask our pass rush specialists to do and pull them off the field on pass playsThey had trouble doing the basics and now are getting more freedom and responsibilities.

I've been a fan since he got drafted and in watching film anytime he was playing I wasn't disappointed one bit. Give him playing time and he'll ball out.i cant remember who it was but one of the players specifically name dropped tyus

Same, liked him coming out, but he was @Simbas man.I've been a fan since he got drafted and in watching film anytime he was playing I wasn't disappointed one bit. Give him playing time and he'll ball out.
4th and 12
you suggesting the players excuted every play to perfection?
If not then there you go.
No fucking player does, you're still doing this? That 4th and 12 play is a perfect example of why there are no "basics" to execute In his complicated as fuck scheme. Yeah let's have 2 primary deep cover guys in weddle and Mosley show blitz on 4th and 12, because they'll be able to reach their zone quick enough right?4th and 12

4th and 12 etc is not "the basics" that was an over-complicated look designed to create maximum confusion for dalton and gave the defenders extra distance to travel - it put mosley in the toughest spot of all and he couldnt compensate - that in no way is "the basics"
not perfectly executing every play is not failing at the basics especially in pees scheme - if we were in a our vanilla versions of every package and still didnt execute then you could argue we didnt execute the basics but notice that the most vanilla our scheme ever was was in the first 2 games of the year and we absolutely dominated teams by executing the basics at a higher level than any other team in the league
obviously that isnt sustainable because teams adjusted and so did we by adding complexity and for the mostpart it worked but later in the year we had to add extra complexity to compensate for the loss of jimmy smith and that's when the defence significantly declined on an execution standpoint
