The Passing Game, The Running Game and another OL Injury

Possibly. I just don't think that's enough, because I don't think teams will actually spread their defenses out to stop a play they know will only have 2-3 times a game and that we're using a WR to manipulate with.

I just don't think that's enough to make the defense change what it's doing. Attacking the middle of the field in the passing game and throwing in windows over the linebackers who are pinching down "should" do it long term.

i think if we want to add it in it would have to be Duvernay as the back rather than jet motioning in so that we can preserve the mesh point/option part of that play that made it so devastating

i think the better option would be to use more RPOs to create a different sort of conflict in the defence

Kind of seems like a backhanded compliment unless I’m reading it wrong

he's been really supportive and positive about lamar all week - think it's a genuine praise to the uniqueness of the offence and how it makes it hard on edge guys

he did take a knee - he just did it 5 yards downfield to break a record

why are you obsessed with the idea that we shouldn't have broken the record?

Obsessed? Not sure where you got that from. Just don’t like the call with the game in hand. It’s a people business and that seemed like an amateur move on the part of Harbs.

The game was won already. What does Lamar scrambling out of the victory formation have anything to do with winning the game? Just take a knee

A 3 year long record, that’s what. Why would you not go for 4 yards to tie a very long standing record that will likely never be broken? That’s history, that’s part of why these players play

Ahh but that’s the key, if defenses won’t spread out to stop that because it’s only 2-3 times per game, then you will absolutely gash them with it, and by 2-3 times a game I mean actually hand it off, there is also pulling out to pass, and Lamar keeping it on the option, the middle will open up once they get gashed by a sprinter for 20 yards, then the pass AND run become that much more effective out of this formation

I’m just saying that incorporating it

I could argue both sides of this, really.
On the one hand, Denver probably thinks they earned the right to "stop the streak", which they largely did. They shut down our running attack very well pretty much all game.
On the other hand, it is a people business. But the Ravens players are people just like the Broncos are. If it matters to the players, which several players said it did, and it matters to the coaches, then do it. Broncos have fully grown adult players on their team and if they want the streak to be broken, then stop it. They don't have to allow 5 yards on the last carry either. If they're embarrassed, then be embarrassed and own the reason for it. Their vaunted defense gave up big play after big play after big play yesterday. Their offense did nothing for hours.

That's where their focus should be.

Dobbins ran it off the jet many times last year and it was devastating

he did it for the players and the coaches who worked hard to get to this place - he made the decision because of the people around him

Yea that’s all fair. I think the negative reactions are overblown but i also think the same for those fans who badly want the record. I’m sure it’s cool for the players but in the grand scheme of things will be moved on from very quickly…… People don’t forget and I don’t enjoy adding additional fuel to the Broncos fire should we meet again

I feel like the loss of peters is so major that the guys stepping up need time to adjust, peters was a high iq leader on that defense and we have capable players all over but it’s not coming together.

Patrick queen needs to get it tf together, we need a solution for the nickel because tavon is getting lit up, and whoever we have playing the deep safety role needs to be in the right place more consistently, if these 3 things are able to get worked out then the entire defense should fall into place. Our pass rush, while not dominant, looks way improved, we’re blitzing less and it’s yielding good results, so I think it’s just a matter of tinkering and adjusting and some of these assholes doing their job and not fucking up as much

I think this is incredibly fair. But like out of those 3 things, the only one I can see actually happening is PQ heating up. Because we've seen he's capable. Idk where an elite slot is gonna come from and Deshon Elliot is Deshon Elliot. Good player for sure, but not an elite deep safety. So I'm not sure where those 2 positions can really be improved

Oh I didn’t know this. Thanks for that. Von had a hell of a game

Literally there can be no take other than this one about this subject. Anything else is thinking way too hard

Could understand if LJ broke it off for a TD or long gain, but he went down after 4 yards. No fuel there for future rivalry, and they still showed class by going down. Screw Fangio, his butt hurt from getting it whipped for most of 4 quarters, not from that last play.

I did hear people like Nick Wright say that he didn't think the Ravens would do this against somebody like KC or Buffalo, out of somewhat "fear" that we'd have to face them again this year. I don't think Denver is a playoff team, and I think Fangio isn't back next year anyway, so I don't really care if the few players who are concerned with this use it as "fuel" in future games or not. Could be three years before we see them again anyway.

It'd be different if they faked like they were going to take a knee and then ended up running. But they didn't do that.

The record was also held by the Steelers too so that's extra motivation to tie and hopefully beat it.

A few things I've noticed so far related to these points
  1. Deshon Elliot's probably the best tackler in the secondary and we've missed him setting the tone etc. on the backend when he's been out
  2. Tavon's not playing like he did when he got the deal but he's settling in and improving week-to-week which you'd expect after he basically missed 2 years of football
  3. I hate watching LBs lol (my least favourite position to watch) but might have to watch PQ this week on the coaches film - i really didnt see much that made me think he was a liability yesterday - yes he's not a good tackler and he struggles to get off square blocks but i watching live i didnt think he was bad at all
  4. Chuck Clark has been awesome through 4 games

i think their pass rush was partly neutered because they were worried about maintaining rush discipline too much which is the sort of thing i think first time defences struggle with against Lamar

yeah and there's no one in that fanbase or coaching staff or front office who think Lock or Bridgewater are their franchise so even if it was disrespectful there's not gonna be many players in that team who might care who'll still be around to worry about it when we next play them
