he's going to be really good. May have been a rough game but not all bad and Quinnen Williams isn't an easy first game by any means.this play is textbook C pass pro - beautiful leverage, absorbs the initial hit, refits his hands inside and then just sits down and anchors and redirects him out of the throwing lane - that's what it should look like
yes agree, but I haven't seen interior pressure like this since maybe 2014 or even longer. Everyone was eating. While encouraging, I would temper the excitement about the pass rush and d line play yesterday. The jets O line was pitiful.
I see it as a Roman issue, trying to complicate a simple call with 3 dozen words. So its a lamar issue?
PFF is as shitty as its founder, Cris Collinsworth. This is PFF so take it for what it's worth, but Ekwonu and Neal, while the best across all positions was Dylan Parham.
hate Collinsworth. He isn't the founder, but is an owner now.PFF is as shitty as its founder, Cris Collinsworth.
i havent been watching the presser but looks like we've got a bit more detail that makes a ton of sense here:
no idea how defences were gonna play us in week 1 so longer playcalls and on the road with crowd noise
will be more worrying if this is still happening 3 weeks from now - hopefully it's a non-issue next week though
Great breakdown by Cole on the running game
surprise surprise, we really miss nick boyle
but i think what this shows is that we're some chemistry (to adjust when guys make mistakes and miss blocks) and some execution (not missing blocks in the first place) away from dominating again in the running game - in all of these plays it's one small breakdown that does it for the whole play... and that's the difference between no gain and a chunk
Damn. I was so looking forward to watch him play. One of my favourite corners over the years.Fuller unfortunately tore his ACL
Couldnt they still just call the play and lamar aud at los based on defensive look.. yea i think its a lamar issue that harbaugh dnt wanna admit
This video was my big fear. The OL are just not great run blockers. The RBs were often hung out to dry. Boyle can hopefully improve on Oliver, Stanley can improve on Mekari. But Powers and Moses are what they are. Given we are so right handed, RT and LG pulling are such an important duo. Against the Jets they were simply not good enough. Hoping we can clean some things up and take steps forward.
But gotta say Quinnen Williams up front with Kwon Alexander and CJ Mosley behind is pretty difficult to run on! Especially when they were stacking the box.
Our OL are actually quite good at pass pro, so if we see that they're stacking the box make em pay through the air. The run game does not always have to set up the pass game. The pass game can also set up the run game.
I dont think it's doom and gloom, but I think their run protection floor is kinda low. Their ceiling is more than adequate enough. They gotta gel and we have to improve on Oliver.I didn’t get the same doom and gloom feel about our OL as run blockers from that video at all - I saw massive runs destroyed by Josh Oliver sucking - Moses was disappointing but I don’t think powers was that poor in that video at all... he got beat up by Williams on one play and had Oliver in his way on a pull
Felt to me like a bunch of plays that will work with better chemistry and better TE blocking
