The Offensive Line Thread

Zuttah has size? he's a small dude that gets bullied and is purley finesse and in obvious decline. the 49'rs got rid of him for a reason and its because they saw that as well. Remember their O line isnt great either.

I think you missed his sarcasm. He is saying players like that are not just sitting around unsigned.

I thought he was bringing up zuttahs availability and experience..and yeah, size he doesnt have.

The FO needed to make a trade. Trades can happen, sure you might need to part with a 2nd or 3rd but if you're getting a proven upgrade it's a no brainer.

im fine with zuttah coming back if a little deflated by it's necessity - i will be livid however if in the next practices i hear he's been taking 1st team snaps at center

Well... it's an improvement.

God I hope we pull off a trade. I like what I've seen from Jensen and have yet to watch game 2 so can't hold judgements, but damnit we need to make another move. Please

We all have different takes on Zuttah but hes not going anywhere so we might as well get used to it. Im still praying for a big trade, ill be pissed if we flush another season because we were to cheap to build a line.

This is actually one of the easiest posts to disprove.

LT will be better because Stanley was getting better as the year went on.

LG will be largely the same. Alex Lewis had some growing pains and other than when Yanda was shifted over the position waa never great.

C will be WAY better for all the teasons you already know.

RG will be the same. More Yanda.

RT will be worse. I am unsure HOW worse because of how well Hurst has been playing but at least slightly worse.

2 positions better and 1 worse does not equal a,weaker OLine

Howard is declining at RT. He was a liability last year and the weakest link. He got by with technique grit power aggression and barely adequate overachieving athleticism. Not many RTs could function with his movement skills. But he is what 31 now?? And that athleticism was no longer barely adequate last year. He struggled. And 350 lb dudes don't get more athletic with age. And yes that is what caused him to get cut.

Zuttah to is not as good as his inaugural year with the ravens. Should be depth and nothing else!! Howard's best position now is guard. Where he can drive block, intimidate and move well enough to pull some. Probably RG since it's same side he plays. But if he can play LG that's a big win. Howard Jensen and Yanda is a pretty formidable unit. That can move some players off the line!! Throw in Stanley at LT and only thing ravens need to be a legit Super Bowl contender is a trade for a friggin legit Right Tackle!! That and a young WR to stand out and avoid injuries of course. By playoff time the young defensive players and WR chemistry should be firing on all cylinders. And ravens could be a legit super bowl contender.

that wasnt his intent. The fact that San Fran thought he was ass too says a lot.
Ozzie is no wizard

He drafted a million D lineman, a guy like wormely who we dont need and got rid of every good Offensive linesman not named yanda in the past 4 years.
What does Wormley has to do with it? The fact of the matter is Oz got 100% of the same production and 120% of the draft capital for 45% of the price. Period. Zuttah could prove to be as trash as could be, this would still be a win.

I'd trade a 2nd for norwell with the intent to pay him to extend next year. time we actualy stated paying O linesman.

I'm not sure if The Panthers would be willing to do that especially after the season they had last year and I don't think they have alot of solid depth at the offensive line either. Do you have anyone else in mind?

I think what you may be missing is the fact that Howard hasn't been healthy for the past two years. His play could have declined base off that alone and I don't think The Ravens need a receiver right now.

how about james carpenter for a 4th and 5th?

To your point, he was relatively healthy in 2015 and that was possibly his best season. The two season-ending caliber injuries slowed him down last year, which is of no surprise.
