Hall of Famer
Just for the sake of conversation, if you were in EDC's shoes, what would your offer be to Lamar in terms of AAV and total guarantees?Pretty much. I think the time to take this "stance" was 2022, which they did.
Problem is the NFLPA is now figuring out that there aren't other Owners like Haslam, and that this little "power play" is going to backfire, i.e. he isn't going to get the compensation he or the NFLPA wants.
My only question is... what's the NFLPA's move when it doesn't happen? Is the move just to have him play for $72M over the next two years and then hit UFA and pray like hell that there is another super desperate team out there that will give him whatever he wants?
I mean if that's the case so be it. My suspicion is the best case scenario for the NFLPA now is to ask Lamar to play out the full 7 years at below market value, let him hit FA in 2025, and then he'll just have to accept whatever the best offer is, and that'll be that.
Basically the "grand plan" is crumbling. And they know it.
This goes for anyone else who wants to answer the question too. I ain't gonna lie, I'm kinda stumped on this one.
