Next Up: @ Bengals

Agreed on impact. But there's likely scenarios where a) the team's that are in the playoffs are not up for dispute and b) the seeding is the only impact, and it could be for just like the #2 vs #3 seed potentially.
Oh yeah agreed. Doesn't seem like this should have an impact on a team making the playoffs vs. not making the playoffs, which is why the random drop idea is probably best because it's really just slotting you with an opponent. And you don't need to even worry about reorganizing a schedule, which I'm sure teams would be much more opposed to.

The biggest headache is pretty much what happens when everybody who's supposed to win wins. If Buffalo, Cincy and KC all win, you don't have a clear #1 seed. And now you're involving a team that wasn't involved in the cancelled game.

Me personally, at that point, I'm going to H2H and saying "ok BUF is the #1 seed because they beat KC h2h". And KC would be gtd to have a better record than Cincy, so you can slot that way.

I think that's the best way to go, but howabout if we beat Cincy and we both finish with 11 wins, yet we beat Cinci twice.

Also don’t understand the idea that we need to know so we can rest starters. Harbaugh basically said that’s not happening again after the 2019 debacle. If a guy is healthy enough to play, they’re probably going to play. Now they might get a shorter leash at the end of the game, but we’re playing to win and it’s going to be with the starters.

Sigh. Huntley will start vs the Bengals and we will get absolutely spanked. Then the Bengals fans will talk some more shit undeservingly

Now this is getting interesting, so they may randomly remove a Cheifs game from the standings to determine the 1 seed

surely though they'd then have to do something similar for the division also???

if they're gonna do something like that to determine the 1 seed then surely they've got to do something similar RE: the ravens bengals for the division if we win next week too?

I think it would largely apply to "injured guys". Basically Lamar, Peters, and Campbell. If you can't win the division, putting those three guys out there for anything other than like a drive or two makes no sense. The latter two really haven't missed that much time and I'm not concerned about "rust".

We're sort of really just talking about Lamar here and whether he should play if he's capable of playing.

It's sounds like they would in this scenario. Any team impacted would get the 1 game random drop and seed based on that. So the division is still potentially at stake as of now.

Right, and that's a scenario that causes problems for the NFL. If all you have to worry about is deck shuffling for seeding, like who's #2 vs #3, I think they'll be fine doing something like taking H2H or coin flipping or whatever.

If its the difference between a #3 vs #6 seeds, they'll need to come up with something. Obviously changes home/away status for games, which is material.

The super optimal scenario for the NFL is for the Chiefs, Bengals and Patriots to win. That happens, and Bills/Bengals are tied at 12-4, and they can just go through the normal tiebreaker process to determine #2 vs #3 seed. Chiefs are undisputed #1 seed, Chargers/Ravens/Patriots get the wildcards in that order.

Also, if the Bengals/Bills tied at 12-4, based on what I see, Bengals would get the #2 seed on SOV tiebreaker. They would have same Conf and Common game records.

So in that scenario, Ravens would be playing in Buffalo on wildcard weekend.

Not enough people have been talking about the Buffalo angle. If Cincy went in and beat them and then beat us this weekend, we'd have been heading to Buffalo. Still not out of the question either. That's become much more plausible than the TEN/JAX matchup.

For me, if you're going to do a "random draw" between two teams with uneven but similar records, I'd just look at H2H first.

Like in order to get to a random draw for Ravens v Bengals, the Ravens have to beat the Bengals twice. I think that's sufficient to put them ahead.
Same thing if they did Chiefs vs Bills or Chiefs vs Bengals for #1 seed. Both teams beat the Chiefs H2H.

Only way it gets dicey is if you're doing random draw for 3+ teams and impacting home/road locations.

Our game is officially being played at 1pm on Sunday. Well at least I can get the disappointment out of the way early instead of waiting to be disappointed later. I just hope Lamar is back for the playoffs at this point.

With us officially at 1, I'd be surprised if any of our healthy starters are sitting unless the game gets out of hand. We're still playing for seeding with LAC going after us at 4:25 AND whatever they decide to do with BUF/CIN.

That is certainly not ideal for us.

Amen to that!
