We need a true offensive minded Head Coach that can take this offense from being stalled in the garage with Harbaugh to the fast track to the Super Bowl. It's only week one, and I'm aware if Lamar does more magic and we win the Super Bowl that Harbaugh will be here for even longer but even if we win the Super Bowl, move him into the front office and find a new head coach.
Harbaugh would be a great FO guy. He's honestly great for culture. Just doesn't have the offensive or defensive genius to win a SB.

I think that's a great idea for him and the team. He's the 2nd oldest coach in the league, retirement has probably come up in his mind at least once

Obviously Mike wanted to be in Seattle similar to how Kubiak jumped at the opportunity to go to Denver but man I wish we threw a boatload of cash at him and said wait one more year and you'll be our next Head Coach in 2025 regardless of Super Bowl or not.

We'll see how he does, but I do think a guy with an offensive background is what we need

We need a younger offensive minded HC who will also be the OC. Those don't grow on trees. But we need one
I wouldn't be too sure of that. Stroud exploded onto the scene despite the Texans having a former DC as their HC.

I mean ok? Nothing about that single other example of an alternative successful situation effects my point. Even in this very thread I said Harbs has neither the offensive nor defensive genius required to set yourself up for winning how the Chiefs have season after season.

But everyone in the entire world knows that with all of the rule changes in favor of offenses, the offensive geniuses more often than not go farther.

Last 10 SB winning teams

Reid - offense
Reid - offense
McVay - offense
Arians - offense
Reid - offense

Now pre Mahomes era

Belichek - Defense
Pederson - Offense
Belichek - Defense
Kubiak - Offense
Belichek - Offense

7/10 are offensive minds. All 3 defensive examples are Belichek. So if you didn't have Brady or Mahomes in the last 10 years, if you haven't had a really bright offensive mind, you didn't win the SB.

That list is mostly about having the best QB in the league puts you in a good position (Arians with Brady and Reid with Mahomes). We saw Reid repeatedly come up short for a long time in Philly, and Arians didn't come close to the Super Bowl as a HC until he got Brady.

Things aren't just gonna instantly go great because it's a guy that seems like a good play caller on offense. Otherwise McDaniels wouldn't have failed as a HC twice. And getting desperate for a hot young OC just for the sake of having an offensive genius is how you get Hue Jackson as your head coach.

We have the second best QB in the league. And the only one with 1 of 1 elite rushing skills. We should have 2 SBs. Harbs, Monken, and Roman are huge contributing reasons. You'll probably disagree but this is really straightforward. Even though there are only 3 non Mahomes/Brady winners in the last decade, all 3 were offensive guys.

And Lamar has just as big if not obviously bugger impact than Stafford, Manning, and Fucking Foles did when they won.

in that same period if you take into account both superbowl participants you can add

Pete Carroll
Ron Rivera
Kyle Shanahan
Belichick
Mcvay
Shanahan
Reid
Taylor
Sirriani
Shanahan

14/20 are offensive, BB is 4 of the 6 defensive examples, Ron Rivera was the 5th (with Cam Newton MVP as his QB) and Carroll the 6th

i think more notable is that it's basically the Shanahan tree and the Andy Reid tree offences that are appearing in most superbowls (or Tom Brady)

most of the most successful offences in the league are coming from those two trees (mostly the shanahan/mcvay tree though... 49ers, Rams, Bengals, Texans, Packers, Dolphins, Vikings - and the Falcons, Bears, Titans (by way of Kubiak), Raiders, Saints and Bucs are joining that tree too - which is nearly half of the NFL running some variant of that offensive system)

How many of those guys are what would be considered young? Seems seasoned, experienced HCs are the ones that have tournament success.

I don’t have the data to back this up, but would bet that the majority of NFL HCs are former OCs, not just SB HCs.

Absolutely!! It's really clear to me we need to become one of those teams too. Then give Lamar a real OL. Then stay healthy. Lamar just needs support

they also have one of the hottest offensive names in the league as their OC in bobby slowik
Didn’t we interview Slowik? Or was he just a name being thrown around?

We have to find one those ocs who failed at the head coach position but is a great OC..
I want someone young from college who has a track record of being an offensive mastermind. I don’t watch college football so I have no idea who that would be lol

This…. I think our coaching staff is more than capable of taking us to a SB, but we need our QB to perform consistently well in the passing game. Being the GOAT QB running the ball ain’t gonna get us there.

lol it’s always Lamar’s fault. Guess who’s been riding his coattails since he entered the league and still has a job because of him?
