Next Up: @Chargers

Why would you post a link to the page from which that dickhead looks straight to us?

I think it's well understood that this team is headed for the playoffs if they win their last two games. This article really doesn't teach us anything new. I already spoke ad nauseam about this team's recent history of "controlling their destiny."

The results aren't pretty...................................at all.

At this point with only 2 games left there's nothing out there to "teach us anything new" whatsoever. Just reading material bro.

I posted earlier to indicate that this notion is not true.

There are scenarios where we win both and still don't get in. I don't know if that's a comfort, but its true. It is entirely possible that we win v. Chargers and based on other outcomes will indeed control our destiny going into week 17.

The charges weakness is down the middle. Their interior D and the ILB's are lacking. This is the game where a dominant LG or C would make me confident of victory.

Their weakness on O is their O line. It's not particularly good but rivers get's the ball out and they have two superb RBs. Keenan Allen if he is playing is hopefully at 50% or less and their TE's aren't much.

We need to collapse the pocket fast and our O line needs to dominate. They have the advantage in the secondary CB and with derwin. Desmond King scares me the most in the passing game

There strength on the D line is on the edges, So..down the middle it needs to be. Like i said..a mauler LG ala KO and i'd be very confident in this game because i feel we'd simply beat up their D line down the middle. Sadly, we'll have to be more creative.

Yeah, the Steelers and lose 1 and Houston loses two. One if titans or colts winning out would clinch division for them and we would lose to Texans due to SoV. It’s something like that.

If Hou loses 2 and the Ravens win both, Pit loses both and at least 1 of Ten and Ind finish 10-6 then it will come down to SoV with the Ravens holding a half game lead with results as they now stand. Unfortunately, the remaining games influencing the SoV tiebreaker strongly favor the Texans who have beaten more contenders.

The biggest game remaining on the schedule for an SoV tiebreaker against either the Texans or Colts is the Tampa Bay/Dallas game. The Ravens need TB to beat Dallas in week 16 on the road in the only double-count game (Ravens pick up a SoV win while both Colts and Texans miss an opportuntity to do so) on the remainder of the schedule. That's not the only game influencing SoV, but it's the most important. It would not feel good to have the Ravens fortunes in the hands of an unmotivated TB team playing out the string on the road.
I'm not sure why in this scenario you include PIT losing both, because if we win both - PIT loses any game and we get the division. I think you mean if PIT wins both, right?

HOU is the only team we need to worry about SoV. We will beat IND on conference record if we're both 10-6 and will beat TEN on head to head if we are both 10-6. You are correct that TB over DAL is a critical game in terms of our SoV as it relates to HOU. Actually, if the scenario you state comes to pass (with the edit that PIT wins both) I cannot see a way that we get in unless TB wins and even then, there are other outcomes that could knock us out. ATL over CAR, CIN over CLE and GB over NYJ are 3 others games with SoV implications.

So ... we win on Saturday, then we control our destiny for week 17 if:

PIT loses or
HOU wins or
both IND and TEN lose
or a collection of crazy shit that will ensure our SoV is better than HOU (in the even they lose in week 17)

That's what we want (unless you think we are somehow doomed if we control our destiny).

Yeah - KC didn't fit the complete team idea, but before their narrow win vs us and then loss the the Chargers, they were certainly viewed as the best shot in the AFC at least to win it all. All it takes is a 1 point loss to change the narrative. Just as the narrative would totally be changed for us if we stopped them on 4th and 9.

So - let's make it so everyone is saying the Bears when asked those questions come Monday morning.

fair enough - i dont think people really got down on the chiefs after the loss tbf
but the chargers have been pretty impressive all year - they didnt get hyped early because they lost twice early in the year - but those 2 teams were the Chiefs and Rams...

they had one weird division game that they lost by 1 point and that's it - i can 100% understand arguments around the league for the chargers being the best team in the league - but they also probably arent even the best team in their division

If you are saying the Steelers lose one - then this scenario actually gives us the 3 seed.

I know this is getting greedy (since the odds are still less than 50-50 that we even can get in) but I'd love it if HOU v. PHI played after the PIT v. NO game, because if PIT lost, I'd root for HOU to lose as well. That would give us the 3 seed. Hell, since I'm dreaming, that scenario would also give us a shot at the 2 seed and a bye if NE lost to either NYJ or BUF.

As it stands, I'll root for HOU because getting a spot, any spot, is all that matters

the number of potential scenarios with only 2 games left is absolutely insane
especially given that we could be mathematically eliminated if only 4 games dont go our way - if ravens lose, colts, titans and steelers all win i think we are out with a game to spare...

the fact that if we win we could well be getting a home game and if the steelers win we may well be out of the playoffs entirely with a week left is so weird

Yep - if ravens lose, colts, titans and steelers all win we are indeed eliminated. Unfortunately, the odds are in favor of 3 of those games going the wrong way. Only the Steelers are underdogs and, of course, we'd then need them to lose to CIN in Heinz, which seems rather unlikely.

If we lose, we've got to have a lot of shit go our way.

Man this is bullshit. We are playing so well and we are probably going to miss the playoffs because we started 4-5. Pissed.

Browns game was the game i said would come back to haunt us. In reality with a bit more umph we should be at 11 wins right now
Should have beaten browns
Should have beaten saints
should have beaten chiefs

fuck just one of these and we'd be in the drivers seat

We also lost to fucking Panthers, who can't beat anybody....

Didn’t you have us winning 5 games. Teams that win five games don’t have any should have won games.

It would suck if we lost and got eliminated from playoff contention on Sunday but that would also mean we could enjoy a stress free Week 17. Instead of nervously waiting a full 60 minutes to see how we blow the chance at the playoffs.... again. I think we win a close one here thanks to Tucker and we head into Week 17 with the division lead after the Saints pummel the Steelers and give them the beating Brady forgot to give them.

Ravens 33
Chargers 30
