The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: Week 5 Edition

??? Of course their injuries are an excuse...Derek Carr would have lit our defense up (given our injuries like you say), it's a much more significant loss. Sure we lost Brandon Williams and a few others but we invested so much if our offseason on defensive depth and 1 person out makes us go from stout to average on D, you would think we could have some people step up but even before we lost Carl Davis we were getting gashed...You watch that Pittsburgh game? Leveon dropped 150 on us.

Ej Manuel threw a DUCK on a 100mile wide open Crabtree in the Endzone, Carr would have hit him.

We still got Suggs, Mosley, Solid D-linemen(on paper but apparently not really) Weddle Jefferson, and 3 solid CBs...so I'm not gonna make immense excuses. Like Harbaugh says- we have the talent, we just have to perform better. And luckily we did ok against a backup QB, I just don't think a healthy Brandon Williams would have made a world of a difference.
Brandon Williams makes a huge difference. Besides occupying more blockers and creating pressure himself. (Yes he’s creating pressure this year), He keeps blockers off of Mosely. Allowing them to do what they do best, He makes everyone better around him.

Agreed, and he will be welcomed with wide open arms when he's healthy.

But it's NO COMPARISON to not having your QB bro, Derek Carr would have played well with or without Brandon Williams. The other vets out there did well enough luckily against a far inferior QB.

Watching SNF rn the week 4 Bridgestone play of the game commercial was Ej Manuel getting picked off sealing the win for the Broncos lol

I never said it was more important than losing your qb, especially a franchise qb, like Carr.

With brandon Williams in the game Derek Carr would've had to carry the team with his arm. They gashed the living shit out of us on the ground and that does NOT happen with bwill in.

And if you think any qb could face a healthy ravens defense, and have to throw it 40+ times with absolutely no threat of the run successfully then you're wrong. If he raiders couldn't lean on lynch early then they might have less than 2 first downs in the first half. Even the best qbs need to lean on a run game.

No, but to say or imply that our poor defense gets to be excused because of the of Brandon Williams being injured...vs the Raiders getting excused for the loss of Derek Carr is irrelevant given that we still have playmakers on D and they have Ej Manuel

The Raiders are by no means predicated on the run, Derek Carr could have easily threw on us even if we were healthy firing on all cylinders on D. Go back and watch how bad Crabtree made Humphrey look, go back and watch Jaguars and Steelers tape of our dbs missing tackles and blowing coverage.

Our defense is solid, undoubtedly better with Brandon Williams shutting down the run and boosting pass rush by taking on double teams. But people act like we don't have a handful of other pro bowl caliber players on defense. I'm not going to make an excuse for 1 Player no matter how good they are .

The Texans were the #1 defense in the NFL last year MINUS. JJ. WATT.

To be fair a lot of the plays Humphrey got beat on were because Crabtree was very openly pushing off every time because the refs put the flags in there pockets that game for better and worse.

I know it's Football so you got to let them play but I agree he was getting away with a few push offs.

Geez some of you make it sound like Manuel is a freaking god awful quarterback. He really isnt that bad lol. He definitely wasn't set up for success in Buffalo and he played fairly well when he came in for Carr last week.

Lol Ej Manuel played fairly well last week?

The week 4 "Bridgestone play of the game" was The Broncos interception of Ej Manuel sealing the game for the Broncos.

He might not be god awful but whatever is close to God awful- that's his place to operate. He clearly can't win games as a starter or a backup even with weapons around him in Oakland, so yea he sucks.

So I saw this today and it made me chuckle. If the season ended today, we'd be the 6th seed :p
The more I see these scenarios, the more annoyed I get lol. I'm at the point where I hate seeing it because I start to stress over which teams are still in the hunt. Then, I'll start looking at their schedules and try to analyze our "seeding" if we win and other teams lose and vice versa. LMAO, I can't do it anymore!

Yeah, fuck off. So at the end of the game last week, against the best secondary in the NFL, he throws a pick and that makes him bad? Get the fuck out of here. I guess you didn’t watch the rest of his play. He was 6-11 as a starter in Buffalo, most of those coming from the only time he ever started a majority of games, his rookie year. They were a horrible team back then. He had like 3 head coaches during that time, and he was set up for failure. If it wasn’t for the raiders defense today he very well could’ve won today. I’m sick of morons like you on these boards who have no idea what tf they are talking about. Basing his performance last week on one play when he was trying to come from behind and win, a game Carr didn’t even play well in. Give me a break.
