I think that’s partly because of his absence - he’s made sure to stay completely uninvolved with the NFL post-career - I think he’s only publicly said anything like once in the last 5 years and it was to signal-boost some stuff from current players complaining about jack Easterby
Seen him the bmarsh, taylor and ocho show also.. his voice probably top 5 deepest ever lol

This is why I believe you might think Steve and Q should go in before him, I’m just saying I disagree entirely, Steve was a major figure in the NFL but his peaks never really competed with Andres peaks, and Q was just fun because he was so different from the typical receiver skillset, but Andre was straight up the best receiver in the league for a longer period than most receivers would be able to say, he reigned longer than Hopkins, about as long as megatron, longer than Randy moss, his career is only rivaled by guys like TO and Larry fitz, where he not only put up HOF numbers for a very long time but also had a prime where he was untouchable in the league for a long time.

Steve smith and boldin to me are more in the ochocinco, Isaac Bruce, cris carter tier where they’re definite elite HOF receivers but they are second tier to guys who very clearly reigned supreme over them and every other receiver in the league
Andre played 14yrs in nfl with 14k yards.. 12yrs alone in HOU he still had 13k lol.. also dont forget about my boy AB.. he was a top wr in nfl during both julio and calvin eras.

I was gonna wait until the end of the season to bring it up, hoping we'd get a few more wins to clinch playoff participation, but it seems to be too late.

The first response to her tweet was what I was saying: 2015 Ravens. This season was setting up to be the inverted 2015 Ravens season, but the football gods said "Fuck you and your hopes and feelings."

HAPPY NEW YEAR my brothas!

Hey! I thought the Ravens were in the #8 spot in the AFC Playoff hunt? I saw this a few moments ago on the NFL network. How did they get bumped down to the #10 spot behind the Chargers and the Raiders? What am I missing?

it's based on tiebreakers for multiple teams. Conference record and that is destroying us this year.

Three or More Clubs
(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)

  1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
  2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
  3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
  4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
  5. Strength of victory.
  6. Strength of schedule.
  7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
  8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
  9. Best net points in conference games.
  10. Best net points in all games.
  11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
  12. Coin toss
When the first Wild-Card team has been identified, the procedure is repeated to name the second Wild-Card, i.e., eliminate all but the highest-ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. In situations where three or more teams from the same division are involved in the procedure, the original seeding of the teams remains the same for subsequent applications of the tie breaker if the top-ranked team in that division qualifies for a Wild-Card berth.

Other Tie-Breaking Procedures
  1. Only one club advances to the playoffs in any tie-breaking step. Remaining tied clubs revert to the first step of the applicable division or Wild Card tie-breakers. As an example, if two clubs remain tied in any tie-breaker step after all other clubs have been eliminated, the procedure reverts to Step 1 of the two-club format to determine the winner. When one club wins the tiebreaker, all other clubs revert to Step 1 of the applicable two-club or three-club format.
  2. In comparing records against common opponents among tied teams, the best won-lost-tied percentage is the deciding factor, since teams may have played an unequal number of games.
  3. To determine home-field priority among division-titlists, apply Wild Card tie-breakers.
  4. To determine home-field priority for Wild Card qualifiers, apply division tie-breakers (if teams are from the same division) or Wild Card tiebreakers (if teams are from different divisions).
  5. To determine the best combined ranking among conference team's in points scored and points allowed, add a teams position in the two categories, and the lowest score wins. For example, if Team A is first in points scored and second in points allowed, its combined ranking is "3." If Team B is third in points scored and first in points allowed, its combined ranking is "4." Team A then wins the tiebreaker. If two teams are tied for a position, both teams are awarded the ranking as if they held it solely. For example, if Team A and Team B are tied for first in points scored, each team is assigned a ranking of "1" in that category, and if Team C is third, its ranking will still be "3."
Tie-Breaking Procedure For Selection Meeting
  1. Clubs not participating in the playoffs shall select in the first through 20th positions in reverse standings order.
  2. The Super Bowl winner is last and Super Bowl loser is next-to-last.
  3. The losers of the Conference Championship games shall select 29th and 30th based on won-lost-tied percentage.
  4. The losers of the Divisional playoff games shall select 25th through 28th based on won-lost-tied percentage.
  5. The losers of the Wild Card games shall select 21st through 24th based on won-lost-tied percentage.
If ties exist in any grouping except (2) above, such ties shall be broken by strength-of-schedule. If any ties cannot be broken by strength-of-schedule, the divisional or conference tie-breakers, if applicable, shall be applied. Any ties that still exist shall be broken by a coin flip.

as we get closer and closer to the draft - a little reminder about how we evaluate talent both pre and post-draft

some thoughts from Cosell on the idea of a "generational" talent and specifically also in regards to Trevor Lawrence

what's even more frustrating about the (continuing) narrative on Trevor Lawrence was that he never even fit those qualifiers as a "generational" talent in the first place - i like Rich Eisen a lot but it always annoys me that he always talks about Lawrence as this generational QB whenever he talks about the Jags and I'm there watching going he really wasn't (I had higher grades on Fields in his own class and in Burrow in 2020 was the highest grade I've ever put on a QB and the easiest one to make and no one ever described him as a generational talent (albeit they probably should have)

but especially frustrating when it looks like we've got one of those rare "generational" talents by the definition of the word in Lamar and he's never described in those terms and certainly wasn't as a draft prospect

We're a really good team and deep. It's built on Lamar so hurry up and sign the guy if that is the plan. Or trade Lamar and go with Huntley. That would be a giant balls discussion at the Castle. Huntley is very good, but he needs the same grooming as Lamar.

Maybe it's just me (and being in the minority), but I'm not praising this team for being competitive and fighting hard. These are paid professionals making 6 and 7 digits. I'm sorry, I expect you to be competing. I expect you to play with heart. If we get blown out, it better be because we just didn't have the horses and got completely out-executed (like the Bengals game).

I don't think I'd be praising them for heart if they were taking the Jags to the wire, but they've played some good teams and hung with them despite that obvious talent differential. I think that's something worth commending no matter if that's part of their job duty or not. Every single person in that front office, coaching staff, and in the locker room knows how unlikely this is and the fact that they keep fighting until the bitter end despite that is something worth mentioning.

Ok.

It's not about either player's performance -per se, it's about the CAPITAL that either can bring. I want to re-sign Lamar. I've said it before. But if he requires a King's ransom to what is going to be signed off of this team after the fight they put in? I'm ready to CAPITALIZE with EDC on franchising Lamar and working from there.

We were on an UP year prior to injuries and Covid - again - and bad extra point calls - - - we were the number 1- 4 team in the Playoffs!

The League has seen our underbelly. Like the Raiders poached Darren Waller, we're about to be poached like crazy from every other team.

Well if you don't pay Lamar then you're rebuilding your entire franchise from the ground up essentially. Those are your 2 options because Huntley nor Johnson nor any other QB that is "gettable" right now is an option for this team to stay competitive.

it's not that easy to find a great QB. TBH, Lamar is the first elite qb we have ever had. flacco was a good qb in his prime, but he's not Lamar and he deserves everything he is going to get and deserves every penny.
