ok, this makes absolutely no sense

OL grades from PFF.

Pass blocking:
Stanley - 73
Bozeman - 61
Skura - 33
Yanda - 62
Brown - 82

So in a game where they had zero pressure consistently, we had a guy with a fucking 33. THAT DOES NTO MAKE SENSE. But the problem? You don't know how the hell they got to their number. WHAT DOES 33 EVEN MEAN

Run blocking:

Stanley: 51
Bozeman: 66
Skura: 57
Yanda: 56
Brown: 56

We hung a 50 burger, had no pressure, but our OL apparently played like trash.

I wish they play that kind of trash all season and in playoffs, all the way to SB.

1 drive in these are my OL notes - Bozeman really effective pulling left to right, OBJ got bulled towards lamar once but lowered the anchor just about well enough - skura/stanley could be argued got beaten just about on a stretch play to Justice Hill but between them they did just enough to get Hill around the edge...

if anything Skura looked powerful off the snap in the run game - he and Bozeman seemed to work well in tandem on this first drive getting nice push - skura got stood up on the 1 yard td play and the defender got under him but he held his ground mostly which allowed bozeman to pull and lead block ingram into the endzone

next drive coming shortly

this 2nd drive is super easy - its a 1 play drive lol

hard to grade the OL because of the RPO and none of them wanting to cross the LoS but it looks like bozeman and skura both get beaten - there's a small 1 gap stunt which means that the guy lined up over skura breezes past the outside shoulder of bozeman who hardly affects him, skura and bozeman then let a second linemen fit between them - bad play for both

2 drives in Yanda looks like Yanda

3rd drive starts - skura gets nice push, bozeman helps out on his way to the 2nd level but doesnt find anyone to block - if he catches the linebacker coming downhill this run probably springs for an extra 4-5 yards

just from limited clips so far skura's anchor is a lot better than it was last year - he didnt lose a lot of battles at the point of attack so far but he's able to reset and re-establish position and power in his blocks much better - looks like the dolphins DL are making a conscious effort to try and get under him and he's fighting well

Ronnie out here mauling people - dolphins rushing 3 on the hollywood deep td meant there was a surreal moment where one of the dolphins DL was on the ground - initially bozeman's guy and ronnie just puts him on the ground, a second guy is taken by skura but once bozeman's guy's on the ground he helps keep the second guy at arm's reach, 3rd guy goes at yanda and yanda pushes him away for a complete disengage and there's a moment where the DL just stands there to look at lamar and in that moment its clear he really doesnt want to have to re-engage with the ravens OL so yanda looks for work elsewhere and Orlando stonewalls him when he tries again

it's this surreal moment where there's 5 ravens OL all seemingly waiting for a dolphins DL to do something while they stand guarding their qb and lamar dancing on his feet - in fact stanley even looks at lamar and gestures towards him that there's a massive open running lane he's created by destroying this DL and he wants Lamar to follow him lead-blocking to the left and then sees lamar wind up and just steps back so he can watch the dime happen - while all this is happening lamar literally is just bouncing on the spot - does not have to move an inch

i realise this is what should happen with a 3 man rush but it was just surreal seeing the will of these DL get destroyed in one play

4th drive - starting to notice Bozeman missing a couple of pulls with some lazy dives - tbf he's being asked to pull more than any other lineman in the heat but he seems to not want to plough through the hole on the edge to get to the 2nd level at all - looks good at the LoS and neutralises guys at times but its a trend im noticing and im interested to see if it continues - on the positive side he's looked stellar in pass pro so far and is getting decent push at the LoS

not relevant to the OL per se but nice to see Justice Hill make the right read in pass pro to pick up the blitz on this drive

skura looking really good so far guys lol

also on the snead td throw - andrews brings the safety playing deep middle down to double him which creates the space in the middle of the field for snead but andrews also gets open vs the double coverage lol - what's cool is that even though mark works his way open and is the first read, jackson sees that the safety's come down and that tells him that willie's 1v1 with the whole middle of the field to work into - and he holds that safety as long as he can to sell the read to andrews - means willie's wide open and then he drops a dime over willie's shoulder

5th drive - the one play jackson made that i would consider bad - handoff to the wrong side which meant fake isnt sold - hot reads are fully covered, nowhere to go with the ball and no space to run even with lamar scrambling around just because he didnt have the option to give the ball because either ingram was to the wrong side of him or because he handed it off to the wrong side - led to a play of -1 yards lol - next play hurst wins the edge in the running game and ingram gets 10 yards lol

after the muffed punt we get the ball back

2nd play later ive seen something extraordinary happen guys - yanda lost a battle for a pressure lol - initially wins and then gets beaten with a swim that forces jackson to bolt out of the pocket and find hollywood for a minimal gain

on the td to boykin you could potentially say that stanley loses but the angle has already changed because lamar is sprinting backwards so not much he can do to protect - the reason lamar has to bolt is because there's an overload - everyone on the OL holds up in 1v1 but there's a free rusher who cant be accounted for - but it leaves all the receivers in man coverage which means only one of them needs to win for the td and boykin wins (albeit more of jackson throwing him open and him adjusting well after the ball's in the air) - you cant really scheme up these kinds of plays - and its the kind of play that with joe at qb leads to a sack or a quick throwaway - with jackson it became a td

guys hollywood was open on almost every single passing down he was in the game - there was a hold somewhere else on an incomplete to him earlier in the game but it should have been a DPI with the defender draped over him - and on lamar's only other pass attempt to hollywood he had a step and a half on the db on a slightly extended play - lamar overthrows him by maybe a yard but the angle of the ball (because of the moving of the pocket) makes it a really hard ball to track

hollywood could have legitimately gone for 200+ yards on the 6 (officially 5) targets lamar threw his way

am currently in the 3rd quarter watching every snap skura made - this grade is atrocious - skura has played well so unless the last quarter and a half he manages to get penalties or misses blocks the whole time then this grade is absolute bullshit lol
thanks for the confirmation

what im seeing consistently from skura even late into the 3rd quarter is him fighting to get his hands inside even if he loses the initial punch - ive not seen him get driven back beyond the initial punch even once - he drops anchor, fights for control and then drives and wins - the only time ive seen him outright lose so far is when he just missed a block on a rusher who squeezed between him and bozeman

we'll see how skura deals with the really big nose tackles in the AFC North but so far so good
