Just to clarify on Bowser, I wouldn't think he's a big deal but he's more than the 1 year veteran type of signing. We'll see how the rest of the season goes for sure but I wouldn't think he's too expensive right now, and they might want to retain him as the only other SLB if Judon leaves. He's just the only other one that I see commanding solid-ish money from our FA group outside of the names already mentioned.
The CBS article says he's getting $37M by March. So given he has a very low base salary this season already (around $2M), one would assume most of that is in the form of a signing bonus or some sort of option bonus that's picked up in March.
My guess is they'll try to keep him at around $15M or less cap impact for 2021, with obviously significant higher one's after that when the cap rebound is likely.

It definitely seems well thought out if all of these reports are correct. Small impact to this year's cap. A slight bump next year. Then the big money starts to hit in 2022. 7 years is a long commitment but it seems like they're minimizing bonus money later in the contract so they can get out of it if needed. Years 3, 4, and 5 are probably the biggest "guaranteed" commitments if I had to guess based on the info we have now.
Yeah its poorly written all the way around. Clearly released prior to Marlon's extension, just assumes that teams that traded for somebody are ready throw in the towel on them a month later because the team isn't winning, etc.what utter bullshit clickbait that article is lol

The real world just simply doesn't operate that way.
