The 2020 Offseason Thread

First injury news strikes - Imam Marshall with an apparently pretty major ACL injury - will be out for the year most likely

On the injury front...

Iman Marshall tore his ACL+ and is done for the year. Sucks for him but Anthony Averett has to be feeling a lot better about his roster standing now.

Chris Moore broke his finger and will miss a couple of weeks. Shouldn't be anything that affects his standing too much as we know what he can do and why he's here... ST.

didnt see the chris moore thing but wondered why he wasnt out there - jaylon ferguson and brandon williams also apparently missing from practice today too (no explanation so far)

Anthony Averett getting a lifeline there back onto the roster

Harbs said Williams and Ferguson were minor training camp ailments and that they're day-to-day.

Holy..... Fluker looks massive compared to the other OLs. crazy

yeah he looks big but i marvelled at how long his arms are - they were long enough that i went to look it up and according to the article i found he's in the top 15 NFL players of all time (those who've been measured) in terms of arm length

they are crazy long

bit disappointing the way they've put those clips together - like its mostly just mink and washburn talking which is fine but they could at least show the drills while they're talking - i know we're not going to get team drill stuff which is fine but at least show us the drills while you're talking lol

im assuming they'll all get better at it as the summer goes on

Notable on the injury front (in a good way), though we already heard this was expected.

Matt Skura is in pads and practicing Monday. So assuming he holds up, has no setbacks, and looks back to his natural self, one less competition on the Oline.

All accounts I'm reading surprisingly (at least to me) suggest that LG isn't really a competition at this point, and that its basically Bozeman's job to lose. Competition at RG is heavy and will go down to the wire, most likely.

Kind of refreshing to be in camp, especially with no preseason, and not have a lot of question marks about who's starting in a month. Starters and key players on offense and defense are largely spoken for, with the exception of that RG spot. Rest of the competition is basically for backup/situational roles (RB, TE, etc.).

i honestly never really thought it was in doubt - bozeman's looked to have been a nailed on starter since the season ended - the only question for me was whether it would be at C (if skura hadnt recovered) or LG and now that Skura's back it's going to be Bozeman at LG and Skura at C

also means we have a high quality backup C in patrick mekari and a massive competition for the RG spot with DJ Fluker and Ben Powers as the leaders in the clubhouse with Tyre Phillips the raw exciting option and Ben Bredeson an outside chance at winning that spot (a better fit for LG in this scheme most likely tbh)

This is very encouraging to read. I was a bit worried having two rookie linebackers potentially starting but like what I'm reading so far.

they will make mistakes - but they'll make explosive plays and as Wink said he wants them to make those mistakes at 100 mph

I’m cool with dez now that we humbled his ass a little bit and left him coming back with his tail tucked looking for a chance at a ring, however, if we sign dez with our wr room as crowded as it is, then I’ll start worrying about Boykin.
