Nico Siragusa

I saw this along with Lewis starting @ LG, Jensen @ C with Urschel @ RG in place of Yanda.

Why do I get the feeling that this team is going to squander a talented rookie by leaving Alex Lewis at LG instead of RT... Wouldn't be the first time I guess.

I know it's early. I know there's still time for Lewis to move to RT and Siragusa to move to LG. But this organization has a history of screwing things up on the oline year after year, and we have a history of failing to use our rookies and young players. Antwan Barnes, Paul Kruger, and Ramon Harewood are the first that come to mind.

Well, Antwan Barnes and Ramon Harewood hardly set the world on fire but there are other examples.

Antwan Barnes was the only thing we had resembling a pass rush in 2009 and Ramon Harewood was graded by PFF as the NFL's best LG in his four starts, but carry on.

i actually like lewis at LG, he can dominate imo
Too tall. No leverage.

.

They sure as hell proved it wasn't a fluke at all.

AQ shipley balled before and after he left the ravens. Zuttah was solid ..nothing special.Jensen has been here for 4 years now and we really dont know what we have in him, truthfully.

John simon was a guy that we should have kept.

AQ Shipley balled, ever? Lmao.

Top 15 C in the last two seasons via PFF. While with us he was godawful.

it's not like we've had anything to brag about at C since Birk retired.
[doublepost=1495762503,1495762476][/doublepost]Which is why i wanted us to draft Lamp as you have a guy who can play across the board at a v high level.

Hurst really isn't as bad as he once was... Rookie year aside, he truly hasn't been terrible. If he has one fatal flaw, it's run blocking, not pass protection. The guy is really quick and held his own, when he was in, last year.
Would you be comfortable with him as a backup?

Rookie Alex Lewis struggled in his first year, but much of that was due to being forced to cover at LT instead of being allowed to settle in at LG, where his best games came.

We could do better but honestly, today, I am somewhat comfortable with as a swing tackle.

I saw that, and I don't totally disagree. He was better at LG than LT. But in his second year, I think his best spot is RT. His pad level really is poor and it hurts his run blocking. He may do better in a gap scheme under Joe D, where he doesn't have to get pad level while trying to seal a guy. He just doesn't get good pad level. His pass blocking is goddamn flawless at LG. But his run blocking on the inside leaves a bit to be desired.

Im planning on seeing Lewis at LG at this point. It seems pretty clear the FO wants him there and not at RT. Have to hope that some kind of talent rises up at RT between Hurst, Wesley, Nembot and Eluemunor. The team has regularly schemed help to the RT- typically with a TE or RB- even when Wagner was around.

Hurst Wesley and Nembot would be a disaster at RT. Eluemunor is a great athlete and a powerful physical specimen. However he is not ready for RT. He only played 12 games of division one. He is very raw, however his strength and athleticism may be able to carry him at LG until his technique catches up to his immense strength and athleticism. Lewis is built for RT. My opinion our best OLine would be LT Stanley LG Siragusa/Jensen C Jensen/Siragusa RG Yanda RT Lewis. If the bigger stronger 325 lb version 2015 version of Jensen shows up he is the center without question. He was not only the best guard over the last 4 games 2015 but he dominated at times. If the smaller 305lb Jensen shows up then Center is wide open and although a rookie and never played center do not count out Siragusa at center.

I wouldn't discount Yanda playing center. If our 3 best interior players are Yanda Siragusa Eluemunor, Yanda could play center so a rookie isn't placed there that never played center.

Don't see it with eluemunor. I just don't..he is at least 2 years away from meaningful snaps. Nembot has the perfect build for RT and is a powerful dude. I hope he has developed. I watched more texas A n M games including the final 3 where he improved and he's still kinda clueless and I'm not presuming just because hes athletic he'll be a stud. It takes more than being athletic to be a great player. If you're kinda clueless at college you are at the very best 2 years away from being an NFL player

Otherwise

Stanley-Siragusa-Mangold-Yanda-Lewis

next year I want the entire draft dedicated to the O-line.
[doublepost=1495808506,1495808479][/doublepost]Mangold is still an Elite Pass pro guy.

Mangold is done. Stick a fork in'em

I'm just a firm believer that the Lewis to Right Tackle idea is significantly more prevalent among media/fans than it is for the FO. Every statement out of them seems to insist that the ideal goal is to keep Lewis at LG. If I remember correctly- Lewis was tried out at RT a couple times during his rookie camp and the team didn't feel comfortable with him there- this was also reinforced by the choice to put Hurst at RT over him against the Bengals last year. His run at LT, though respectable considering the circumstances, does not tend to inspire as great of success on the edge as people think. He even stated afterwards that he was ideally going to stay at guard-- though his tone has changed this offseason.

I think if Lewis is kicked out to RT, you get a "Kyle Long in 2015" where he was bad for the first half of the season then serviceable for the second half of the season, and was a Pro Bowl alternate because of reputation. Considering that Lewis probably isn't as talented as Kyle Long, I don't think the move would really be worth it.

Carl Nicks was a round 5 player because similar things were said about him. He possessed every quality you wanted in your guard except technique. And his balance was bad at times but it was clearly bad technique and being clueless to schemes and rush moves. By year2 in the NFL Nicks was the most dominant guard since Larry Allen. Eluemunor's balance is a little better yet he has less experience. Not often college coaches go out on a limb and promise a player will be a starter. The way he fits on linebackers in space shows he has balance and coordination to coach up his technique. by year 2 ELUEMUNOR IS going to be terrorizing interior defenses!!

Lewis has far better technique experience and feel for blocking than Kyle Long. He was a baseball player converted to football. He got by on sheer raw athleticism and strength. Lewis I believe was a 4 year starter and boulder at left tackle lauded for his smarts toughness and instincts. Not saying he can't be a fine guard but he has a chance to be a fine right tackle.

Keep lewis at LG. If harbaugh said sees all
Pro potential in him that why mess up his growth at LG by moving him out to RT. i see us having many oline problems this season. Oline is too young andinexperienced
