Next Up: @. Bengals

Flacco has played his absolute worst against the Bengals over his career. In 19 career games against them, he has 19 TDs to 23 INTs. If you compare that to his stats against the Steelers in the same amount of games (23 TDs to 12 INTs) then you can see the drastic difference.
It’s that cover 2 with the 4 man rush, Flacco struggles terribly against it and they’ve always had a quality 4 man rush and secondary.

Luckily this year their secondary is the worst it’s been maybe in all of the Flacco era, so the scheme might be irrelevant

You must not have seen us play vs them lately lol. Or ever. They have had our number over the years, maybe moreso than any team.
They were in a struggle with a garbage indy team for a while, I think they arent much of a problem

Well, remember, it's not like they swept us last year. We shut them out the first go around, and they barely beat us in the second matchup. It's not like they've strung together a ton of wins back to back against us.

I think we have two wins vs them in last 10 games

Why even compare one season to the next
Because in a league where star players get locked down 4-6 years at a time, those star players will continue having some teams number. Ben had ours for years, once we got over that hump for a time, aj green stepped up and took our number. The team has had changeover, but aj green and their defensive scheme dating back to the Zimmer days, has always been a thorn in our dick.

I partially agree with this, but not entirely. Teams and players change and schemes and game plans change. Besides we have won 50% of the games the last two yrs.

So.... NFL going to be inconsistent when it comes to player safety and not suspend Shawn Williams for that hit on Luck?

Wow.... he better not do the same to Flacco Thursday.

I mean...he was ejected? First time offense. I don’t see a problem.

Green, Boyd, Ross, Eifert, Mixon

I don't like the sound of that but the real issue will be Bengals front 7 vs our O line.
Defense will be fine so long as we can shut the run down. Though Mixon is the type of back that would give us trouble. We match up well with those receivers now that Tavon is back and Eifert will probably tear his ACL or something mid game like he always does. Eifert is the best TE in the division, but we do have two young freak athlete LBs that kind of excel at this coverage thing in Tyus Bowser and Kenny Young, as well as having Jefferson return to his role in Arizona where he was very effective at covering the TEs. We shut the run game down, their oline is still likely worse than ours is, and well if the Bengals let ex-Bengals bust Marcus Hunt have the game of his life, then imagine what's going to happen when Suggs shifts over to the right side and we alternate between Timmy, Judon, and Bowser too.

I know everyone is worried at Skura vs Atkins. But Yanda, even if he is rusty, will be on him, and Yanda should be able to do just fine. Stanley is still Stanley is pass protection and Lawson and Dunlap are going to have their hands full. If there is anything Alex Lewis is good at it's pass protection... Which leaves Skura and Hurst.

I'll make this brief. Orlando Brown better be seeing significant time as the sixth olineman this game. Alex Collins is good at runs to the outside and if we can establish the run this game, WE ARE GOING TO WIN. But ultimately, the oline has next to no cohesion yet, and we are starting two utter liabilities in Hurst and Skura, as well as a guy in Lewis who's a good pass protector but still hasn't adjusted to run blocking yet, as well as having Yanda who is still rusty as all hell, and Stanley also coming off of an injury. And yet, we're a smart coaching decision away from having a good oline if we decide to start Brown Jr. At RT(And no @RavensMania.. This isn't a debateable issue. Harbaugh is being a complete moron for doing this. I don't care if Brown Jr has less experience and needs to learn the playbook more. Hurst may know the playbook and has more experience but his experience SUCKS and we know he sucks). I do believe that once the oline has more playing time together they'll get much better at run blocking(assuming Harbaugh actually decides to look past his favorite son in favor of the far more talented player).

But yeah. I don't think we can run the ball vs. The Bengals. Atkins, Billings, and Dunlap are just going to eat us alive in that regard. We're going to need to run an insane amount of misdirection and three TE sets. Which is where we really miss the good Hurst

im really worried about john ross which seems weird given he only had 1 reception for 3 yards vs the colts - but it was the way he got open on that 3 yard td that worries me - no way brandon carr can stick with that type of route running suddenness

Joe has had no answer for the Bengals disguised coverages...they run all sorts of stuff at him...cover 6 is a particular favorite and as you say, they can get home with four

I hope carr isnt covering him tbh.
