The Good, The Bad, and The Steelers Defense

The Steelers only had 47 total yards in the second half and 2/11 on third down the entire game. I wasn't too optimistic especially after the 14-14 TD. But Jason Tucker was fantastic once again. The run defense only gave up 19 yards to Conner.
I wasn't paying attention but did the Steelers use the no-huddle effectively?

Also one big good was our OL going against some talent in Heyward and Tuitt and Watt and (kinda) Dupree. Pretty impressive on the whole

the steelers had averaged over 29 ppg so far this season but we held them to 14 and they were lucky they got those 14 too

our defence this year is quieter because it's getting fewer turnovers than last year but it's a way more consistent defence that's fundamentally better in so many ways

consistently last year one of our Dlinemen would play over 50 snaps in a game - our "ironman" vs the steelers was brent urban but he lead the DL with 36 snaps - that's awesome rotation

That middle November game with the Bengals after the bye, is gonna hold some merit in this race for the division.

Bengals
v Dolphins
v Steelers
@ Chiefs
v Bucs
v Saints

They have a nice home schedule before they head to Baltimore.

Ravens
v Browns
@ Titans
v Saints
@ Panthers
v Steelers

If both teams keep hammering away, that November game is gonna be very important.

One thing I forgot to add to the good

Kudos to M & M for devising and calling a good game plan on O & D.

I tell you, if the Falcons defense could have held the Cincy yesterday on the last drive, it would have been an exceptional day! Hopefully, we have that home game against the Bengals circled on the calendar and we will be out for some revenge! Go Ravens!

Great schemes in protecting Joe ...often 2 man routes with 8 in protection...TE's did a nice job in releasing late in protection for big conversions.
Steelers miss Bell
Levine was great in the second half but also saved the day on what would have been another blocked punt with a heads up hold.
Good to De'Lance Turner get some time.
Mosley can't be lined up standing at the line. he isn't getting back in coverage when he drops and he isn't a threat against a guard typically. If he is coming it might better be from off the line timed blitzes. I haven't rewatched a ton at all...just in the first half but I thought he was indecisive against the run at times as well.

I’d love to have a recording of the “conversation” Harbs and Marty had after we had to kick the last FG. They were both smokin’ angry and spitting words at each other. Have to guess it was about the conservative play calling.

he admitted after the game that he's not 100% and you could tell - its great having him back on the field but we need to make it easier for him - let's get deceptive with levine and kenny young and allow mosley to start at a normal depth in coverage

i imagine maybe harbs was angry that we thew twice in a row and didnt take more time off the clock or something like that - or its the opposite and the throws we made were plays that never really had much of a chance...

Not sure if you got to see it but a Falcons DB dropped the game winning pick on that last drive. Announcer said something like “nothing good happens after you miss a sure interception like that”.

I think we ran it 3 times. Right?
