just a quick correction. FEHB is is health insurance. FERS(Federal Employee Retirement System) is the retirement plan that replaced CSRS and is a 3 part system....pension, TSP(401K) AND SS. Because of the matching TSP funding, depending on how your friends invested their TSP it could be better for them than CSRS. CSRS was a sweet deal though because it was guaranteed.
you are correct with that, my mistake and yes, most people I have come across have done better with CSRS than they would have with FERS.

It's not like these detention centers just got bad under Trump. Obama never tried to fix them, George W or any other president. This is just a long line of issues that have needed to be fixed in the US but nobody wants to do anything to fix.

Nobody wants to put any blame on the countries the people come from themselves even tho we give them millions upon millions in federal aid year after year. Nobody wants to blame the left wing activists that have billboards, run commercials and organize the caravans urging people to come up here. Nobody blames the human smugglers/coyotes that are funded by these activists. Nobody wants to blame the politicians that promise free everything to illegals which makes the journey very enticing. This is the root of the problem that has completely overwhelmed the system.

There’s a huge piece of the problem that is completely missed by most. Most millennials and subsequent generations have no desire to perform manual labor of any kind, not even to fill gaps between career jobs. Someone has to do the work and it provides for a huge market for immigrant workers, especially hard working Hispanics.

I'm ok with it as long as its done legally thru work visas which is great especially for seasonal jobs. Crab picking sure as hell aint easy. Problem is there's so many unscrupulous employers paying under the table wages ( a lot of times less than minimal wage) and this is extremely abundant in the service industry ( motels especially ), construction and landscaping. Any employer that has at least 10 workers should be required to use e-verify and imo 1st time offenders that knowingly (key word here) should face a 5 figure fine which can be fought in court. A 2md offense its a felony charge. Its the only to get thru to employers that use these avenues.

AS for millennials I don't even know what to say. I guess you can tell by my post its all about the employers to me since its really hard to blame immigrants in this. So we can also add to my original post that nobody blames the employers neither.

The problem is always going to be the people that decide to take advantage of others for monetary gain. Just because you can find someone and pay them a lot less does not mean you should.

Nobody is responsible. Responsible capitalism does not exist. Does not matter what side of the fence you are on, is always the same issue.

Immigration has never been fixed or attempted to be fixed. It takes too long for a lot of people that unfortunately don't have time considering how bad there home countries have been getting.

It is unfortunate all around. I just don't enjoy blaming immigrants for blunders created by government(s)

Not sure what you mean by this but would you rather have govt control or free market? Would you like to buy your own house and property? This is capitalism.

I prefer free market of course, what I don't like is a company like Nike employing children and paying them pennies vs Americans and getting away with not having to pay anyone.

I don't appreciate construction companies employing immigrants and paying them under the table for a much higher profit vs employing citizens and paying them a fair wage.

Private owners will do anything for profit, that is not being responsible to ones country in my opinion

You cant lump all employers into that basket. Most follow the rules and treat their employees fair and square. This is why I said unscrupulous employers. Just some dirty dogs out there.

Why is it that when someone questions capitalism (and honestly there are a lot of questions to be asked about it), it's assumed they want some Soviet-style system where no one owns anything and all decisions are centrally controlled?

The socialism-capitalism dichotomy is out of date as it is, but why do people tend to assume that when someone shows signs of not being at one extreme end of the spectrum they're at the other extreme end?

It was a response to "Responsible capitalism does not exist". That's a strong statement not "questioning".

You sound just like the Dems blaming Bush for everything, Trump has been in office 2 1/2 years. Would be nice if one of these parties wanted to take responsibility for their actions but that is probably asking for too much these days

Would be nice if some of these oligopolies got broken up then, it is kinda hard for a small business to compete with the big boys even if the big boys aren't being ethical. Capitalism unchecked results in one company controlling everything which is just as bad as the government owning everything.

Pretty much what was I saying, nobody wants to fix anything and I agree with you that nobody is taking responsibility for their own actions. I was talking about this at work during lunch with a few co-workers and we all agreed that your most likely better off living in another country as it seems more and more America keeps going downhill.

Holy smokes!!!!! We actually agree on something lol. Anytime there's a big time merger I cringe cuz it's killing competition in my eyes. This also includes the govt like you said.
