It was Urban and Roman who created the new playbook. Marty just happens to call the plays. Marty replaced Dennison as QB coach and Flacco significantly regressed after Kubiak and Dennison fixed his footwork.

You say that but we’ll see. I’ve been surprised before by some players who get deals. He may be a blocker and offer nothing as a receiver but some team may really need that and be prepared to give him some cash. It would be a risk because, as I’m about to say, I just don’t know if it’s worth it with his suspension history.
Speaking of that, I think suspensions should drop if you go x period of time without a suspension. Unless it is that way and we don’t know, it’s such BS. It would be dumb to suspend a guy the whole year because he had previous suspensions like 3 years ago. Not applicable here, just a random thought
teams will likely back themselves to find that blocking TE in the draft somewhere rather than pay boyle...
maybe ill be proven wrong but in this particular case id be surprised if he doesnt return (if we do offer him a deal of some sort)
with regards to suspensions they do drop off I think - I cant remember what period of time it is (might be 2 years without a suspension) - but i recall it happening to Ndamukong Suh

I think the play-calling and game planning had some to do with Lamar’s limitations as a passer. I agree, generally the play calling was awful but I do think what happened Sunday was eventually going to happen.

I also understand how needed AND cool it would be to sign up a big money pass rusher with the help of those money.
Problems are a few:
First, you'll have to release him post june the 1st.. You won't find a pass rusher to salivate for at that time.
In that moment you'll be paying him those 9 mil (which is exactly his 2020 figure) to go away.
You're literally jumping into someone else's leftover while getting rid of one of the best interior run stuffers in football, who's also missed only 4 games in the last 5 years.
Other issue: what if Pierce gets injured? Our strongest attribute would almost certainly become our bigges weakness.
I don't think we can afford to do the move, or better: we shouldn't dare.
Especially because we might have enough cap to sign a pretty good player right away anyway.

I’ll cut some slack to a rookie in his 8th nfl game for not being able to read the defense.
Flacco on the other hand was pretty abysmal for the most part in reading the defense as an 11 year veteran, missing open reads at this point in joes career is unacceptable

Lamar is ruined and we most certainly won’t have a quality season next year. Super bowl is certainly off the table
yes we want him gone, but lets not get so negative at this point. It's not like we are going to have a simplified playbook next season. More and more of the playbook will be available to Lamar.

Somehow, I don't believe that. Marty had veteran QB last season and his play calling sucked as well.
although playcalling is important I believe it's more about the execution of a play call. It doesn't matter how good a play call is, if you don't execute. Agree that Marty's situational playcalling sucks.

I have to disagree. The Rams didn't change much on offense from the last Fisher year to the first McVay year. A coach actually taking what his players do well into account and putting them in position to succeed makes a gigantic difference when compared to a coach that plays to their weaknesses or refuses to adjust his gameplan when it's going poorly.
I absolutely agree with your statement. I'm not saying playcalling isn't important, because it is, all I'm saying is that you have to execute and we weren't doing that on Sunday. He absolutely should have adjusted his playcalling on Sunday. My god, stop running up the middle and call a damn rollout...

I do as well, but you have to have the talent to stop the scheme and the chargers had the talent.
Now if you are running an offense with a normal amount of passing and still running rpos it would be different, because they can’t sell out to stop the run if you can also pass the ball. I believe this is what we will see next season

It really doesn't matter who is right or wrong. If Boyle comes back, cool. I couldn't care less, I just don't think both come back here. I don't prefer Boyle due to the suspensions, but that's good to know they drop off. I always thought that was dumb. I just wonder if it happens for substance abuse and PEDs. That's been his [Boyle] issue, unlike character stuff, which was Suh's issue.
last year i would have agreed with you with regards to boyle vs maxx but its been quite clear this year that boyle is by far the better and more useful blocker both in pass pro and run blocking - as both a puller and a more traditional in-line blocking technique

I kind of hope we keep Weddle around. Not as the starting safety, but a backup, player-coach to help out young guys on the team. He seems like a very good mentor. And even if his playing days are done, give him some made up coaching title and let him help help coach up our younger guys on defense. He's got a great mind for the game and understands how to do all the little things right. I don't want him as the starter, but I would hate to lose that part. Also if we lose Mosely, we'll need a new QB for the defense, the guy calling the on field adjustments. Weddle would be great to have around to help that young player learn that role.
Also, him studying under Wink for a few years on how to run the defense as a coordinator could give us a solid plan B if/when Wink gets poached/retires.
